Inside the glittering gold exhibition hall of the Gotham Art Museum.
The place perfectly embodied Gotham high society's belief that money was worthless. Everywhere the eye could see, gold glittered.
Just as Lynn was about to find a few fat cats to knock out and fleece.
Harley tugged at the hem of his clothes and whispered:
"Mr. Riddler, do you see that woman in the gold dress up ahead on the left?"
Lynn snapped out of his thoughts and followed her gaze. A beautiful woman stood before a display case, carefully examining the jewelry inside.
His eyes lit up:
"I see her. With all that gold on her dress, she must be loaded. Definitely a prime mark."
"Haven't you noticed?" Harley sounded rather mysterious.
"Noticed what?" Lynn asked in surprise. "Do you know this rich mark?"
"She's Wonder Woman."
"Oh, so she's Wonder..."
It finally clicked for Lynn.
"Wait, who did you say she was?"
"Wonder Woman."
Lynn turned his head, fixing his eyes on the woman in the gold evening gown up ahead on the left.
Her fitted gown perfectly outlined her sizzling curves, leaving her snowy-white back exposed in a striking display.
"So it's Wonder Woman. I was wondering what rich mark would dress in so much glittering gold."
Lynn studied the woman closely and immediately spotted the bottomless cleavage beneath her gown's plunging V-neck, along with two rounded swells of pale flesh.
Come to think of it... could I recruit Wonder Woman into the Bat Gang? he wondered.
As one of the Justice League's major powerhouses, Wonder Woman was not only a demigod princess several thousand years old, but also possessed superpowers far beyond those of ordinary people.
If he could max out Wonder Woman's affection, wouldn't he become a demigod princess too... no, wouldn't he gain those powerful superpowers?
With that thought, Lynn disengaged his arm from Harley's grasp and headed straight toward the rich mark.
"I'm going to buy an orange. Wait right here."
Harley wore a bewildered, kitten-like expression:
"Huh?"
Under her dumbfounded gaze, Lynn strolled over to Wonder Woman, Diana, and joined her in admiring the jewelry in the display case.
"Do you believe in God?"
Diana glanced at him, assuming Lynn might be a jeweler or someone of that sort.
After a moment's thought, she replied, "No."
As a demigod, she naturally knew God existed, the omniscient and omnipotent Lord of all.
But she was not religious. Or rather, her past experiences made it difficult for her to have faith.
"Why?" Lynn asked.
Diana explained, "When I was little, I wanted a bicycle. I prayed to God, but nothing happened."
Hearing that, Lynn shook his head:
"That's not how you use God. You should steal a bicycle first, then pray for God to forgive you."
Diana: ???
Is that how you use God?
"Beautiful lady, I wonder if you've ever heard of the Bat..."
Riiiing!!
A shrill alarm suddenly blared overhead in the exhibition hall.
"Someone's stealing the jewelry!"
"Quick! Someone's stealing the jewelry! Catch that thief!"
Lynn: "..."
Seriously? What timing.
He had only just been about to try recruiting Wonder Woman.
"Run! Selene's made her move. We need to get out before the cops arrive."
Harley rushed straight up to Lynn, grabbed him, and pulled him through the crowd toward the corridor.
They hurried down the corridor toward the exit, but soon a dozen armed police officers, led by Commissioner Blake, blocked their path.
"Harley Quinn. I knew it was you. You got away after that jewelry store robbery last time. Let's see how you escape this time!"
Commissioner Blake's voice was icy. He raised his pistol, aimed its dark muzzle at Harley Quinn, and barked:
"Both of you, hands up and squat in the corner! Otherwise, I'll count to three and open fire!"
As police officers in the United States, they had the right to shoot these criminals dead while enforcing the law.
Harley shook her head with a sneer. "Heh, do you really think the two of us..."
"Three!"
With a bang, a bullet shot from the muzzle.
Harley reacted lightning-fast. The instant he moved to fire, she rolled out of the bullet's path.
"Holy shit! Commissioner Blake, you fucking cheat! Tricking us and launching a sneak attack on two weak, pitiful, helpless mental patients!"
"I don't understand a word you're saying. Everyone, fucking shoot!"
At Commissioner Blake's furious command, the other officers raised their guns, aimed at Harley and Lynn, and rapidly pulled their triggers.
Harley: "..."
Dirty cops! If these aren't fucking dirty cops, I'll eat my words!
Countless bullets tore through the air toward Harley Quinn and Lynn.
Harley hurriedly drew a pistol from beneath her upper thigh and rolled into a nearby corner, then fired two shots ahead.
Commissioner Blake led several officers into cover and began exchanging fire with Harley Quinn.
Meanwhile, numerous officers had their sights trained on Lynn. The burly men kept firing, trying to put bullets through his face.
Lynn calmly watched the incoming bullets and silently activated his skill.
Bullet Time!
Almost instantly, it was as though someone had hit the world's slow-motion button.
The passage of time grew sluggish. The officers pulling their triggers, the incoming bullets, the wild grin on Harley's face... everything around him seemed to freeze.
Even the trajectories of bullets normally invisible to the naked eye became clearly visible, crawling through the air like snails.
Within this nearly frozen space and time, Lynn alone could move.
He ducked backward, swaying out of the path of several bullets, then swiftly darted behind a wall.
Although the officers were surprised by his speed, they kept enthusiastically firing their handguns.
Behind the wall, Lynn held the Salty Fish Thrust Sword and said coldly:
"I'm warning you, this sword of mine can cast Taoist spells!"
The shots were striking right at-
Hearing him, a Black officer immediately sneered:
"Shit! You Asian bastard, what fucking Taoist spells? We've got guns, and all you've got is a salted fish. You'd better stop resisting and squat down!"
"Fuck you! You damned Asian bastard, keep resisting and I won't mind shooting you dead!" the white officer beside him shouted.
"Looks like you won't take the easy way out." Lynn grinned. "You can't withstand my Taoist spells!"
The officers ignored Lynn and simply kept their eyes fixed on the corner.
The moment Lynn dared come out, they would pull their triggers and kill him.
Unfortunately, their rosy expectations were a far cry from the harsh reality.
The six black barrels of a Gatling Gun and the massive tube of a rocket launcher emerged, aimed straight at them.
The next instant-
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Boom! Boom! Boom!!
Countless bullets struck the three white officers. Blood sprayed as they were shot into scattered chunks.
The four Black officers fared even worse. Rockets slammed into them, scattering pieces of their bodies everywhere.
A moment later, Lynn emerged carrying the Gatling Gun and the rocket launcher.
Looking at the bloody streaks and corpses in the corridor, he shook his head and sighed:
"I told you. You couldn't withstand my Taoist spells."
The surviving officers' faces twitched violently at the sight.
What the fuck kind of Taoist spells were those?
Morality and the rule of law?
