"What? You want to get involved in the next exam?"

Mei Terumi froze when she heard what Shinji had come to ask.

"Yes. I suspect someone has infiltrated the candidates. There might be some sort of plot."

Shinji's reason for wanting to get involved in the next exam was simple. It wasn't to foil anyone's plot, but to keep an eye on Sasuke.

He had suddenly remembered that if Orochimaru wasn't dead, he might still disguise himself as a candidate and sneak in, just as he originally had.

If Orochimaru sweet-talked Sasuke into leaving with him, wouldn't that mean his mission had failed?

Besides, that Cursed Seal was only somewhat useful early on. Later, it was garbage. There was absolutely no need for Sasuke to increase his strength that way.

So after thinking it over, even if it was just for the mission reward, he had to beat that little snake down.

Of course, the best outcome would be for everything to stay peaceful.

Mei Terumi frowned slightly. She knew he wouldn't make a claim without grounds, but the problem was...

"All the examiners this time were selected internally by Konoha, and the appointments were settled long ago. Even if I went to discuss this with the Hokage now, it wouldn't accomplish anything. The only way would be for you to disguise yourself as a candidate and sneak in too..."

Shinji immediately shook his head. He wasn't going to do something that lame.

"There's no need to replace any examiners. There's never been a rule saying an exam can only have one examiner. With the vast Forest of Death as the venue, there are bound to be plenty of assistants besides the chief examiner, responsible for escorting eliminated candidates out. Those positions are something we can negotiate with Konoha over.
