"That bastard..."
Hidden in the shadows, Tobi kept grinding his teeth.
He had known for ages that this guy had his eye on Akatsuki's members, but he had never expected him to poach them so brazenly, even coming up with such an outrageous advertising slogan.
"Surely no one's actually going to fall for it and leave?"
Tobi suddenly wasn't so sure.
After all, what was going on with him actually feeling a tiny bit tempted by the benefits that bastard Shinji had just listed?
"No, I need to find a chance to talk to Nagato. We can't keep squeezing these disposable members dry so recklessly. We need to improve their benefits, too. Otherwise, we might end up with everyone running off."
Tobi's worries weren't unfounded. Akatsuki's benefits were notoriously awful.
No wages, no holidays, overtime every day, and all the money they earned everywhere had to be handed over...
Calling it a company with a rotten heart wasn't enough. The whole company was rotten!
Before, there had been nothing to compare it to, so promises of a rosy future alone had been enough to keep people loyal.
But now that a competitor with deep pockets was poaching their people, that was harder to say. After all, comparisons only bred discontent.
Why did everyone have to get dragged into this rat race?
Still, tricking Itachi and Kisame into coming here hadn't been entirely fruitless.
At least he had confirmed a few more things.
He could be certain that Akagi Shinji hadn't been there that night five years ago. Otherwise, neither he nor Itachi should have reacted that way.
Another thing that really concerned Tobi was that Akagi Shinji had actually proved immune to both Itachi's Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu!
He hadn't slept at all that night. He had simply hidden himself away
