Saving people was never Shinji's first choice.
If he could do it in passing, he did not mind.
But if anyone wanted him to shed blood and lay down his life for a bunch of strangers, then sorry, he could not do that!
So his thinking had always been simple: save these people if he could, and forget it if he could not.
If anyone tried to guilt-trip him, he would tell them to do it themselves.
Otherwise, what did hiding behind others and pointing fingers amount to?
Sanctimonious hypocrites?
Insisting that others do something they could not do themselves?
Had they no shame?
So Shinji said directly to Hidan beside him, "Find a way to get out first. This environment gives the enemy too much of an advantage. We can't catch him at all."
Hidan agreed. "Then what about these people? Taking them all out with us would be a real hassle."
"Leave them alone for now. Once we've killed the enemy, they'll be safe too. The only difference is whether they see sunlight a little sooner or a little later."
"We should've done that ages ago!"
Hidan seemed delighted to be rid of these burdens.
But leaving might not be so easy, even if they wanted to.
"Dark Curse Technique: Dark Invasion!"
Uxas suddenly appeared and spat out a cloud of black mist that swept rapidly forward.
And this time, he had chosen an extremely devious position to appear in, using the crowd between them as an obstacle.
If Shinji and Hidan wanted to attack him, they would first have to get past the people in between.
Their opponent, however, had no such concerns.
Neither of them knew how dangerous this black mist was, so they could only retreat for the time being.
Then a terrifying scene unfolded.
