After hearing Hai Tian's answer, Jin Chanzi said nothing more. He merely stared intently at Hai Tian, his gaze seeming to want to see straight through him. Hai Tian frowned deeply, and the atmosphere between them grew tense.
Just then, a voice rang out. "Since you two have come to seek the Dao, why have you stopped here?"
The voice belonged to Xiaohe Goddess. Upon hearing it, the two immediately averted their gazes and headed toward the Spirit Cloud Sect.
Though they kept their distance, neither spoke again.
A hundred years later.
Having finished listening to the Dao, the two left the Spirit Cloud Sect. They flew out side by side, and after leaving this Blessed Grotto-Heaven, they continued flying in the same direction.
After racing onward, they arrived above a vast, uninhabited desert. Hai Tian stopped. Jin Chanzi landed ahead of him, then turned, rolled up his sleeves, and said, "Amitabha. This humble monk is still uneasy. How about you accompany me on a journey, Fellow Daoist?"
Hai Tian snorted coldly. "Words are useless. Then let us fight!"
Boom!
A duststorm that swept the heavens rose from the desert, shaking heaven and earth as the two figures rapidly crossed paths.
Far away within the Daoist temple, Xiaohe Goddess could not help shaking her head. Qing Qiu, beside her, asked curiously, "Master, does the Buddhist Sect not uphold compassion? Why is this Jin Chanzi so combative? Could it be that Hai Tian truly has an unspeakable origin?"
Xiaohe Goddess replied calmly, "Jin Chanzi is one of the most stubborn people in the Buddhist Sect. He even dares contend with the Buddha. As for Hai Tian, I saw him before. He has sought the Dao everywhere, yet no Great Luo Sect was willing to take him in. Now, I understand why.
