Bang!
A morgue drawer suddenly sprang open, revealing a mature woman's face.
Pakunoda braced herself with both hands and looked around warily. What greeted her eyes made her freeze.
"Boss!"
Chrollo had quietly taken a seat in a corner of the morgue at some point. He was soaked through and looked utterly bedraggled.
The sight of his empty left sleeve made Pakunoda's pupils contract!
As her tense voice rang out, another morgue drawer beside her sprang open with a bang, revealing a figure whose face was hidden.
It was Kuhua, his seaweed-like hair leaving only one eye exposed.
Chrollo looked calmly at the two of them. Rather than explain anything, he asked in a steady voice:
"Wasn't No. 8 with you?"
"Shizuku went to buy groceries. Going by the time-why hasn't she come back yet?!"
Kuhua answered instinctively, but suddenly realized that Shizuku was already at least ten or fifteen minutes late!
Chrollo said nothing, but he had already given up hope that Shizuku would return.
Beside him, Pakunoda hesitated to speak. She was very worried about Chrollo's current condition.
But because of her [Restriction and Pledge], she could not have any contact with Chrollo right now.
Seemingly noticing Pakunoda's worry, Chrollo raised his head and said to her:
"I'm fine. Contact Shalnark and have him gather as many of the others as possible."
"Once you've contacted him, find a way to hide. In one day, if I'm still alive, I'll come find you. If I'm dead, leave the city."
Then, without looking at Pakunoda's reaction, Chrollo turned to Kuhua and said:
"I'll need your ability next."
A few hours earlier, he had escaped from the underground river. Avoiding pedestrians and cameras, he had followed his memory to this temporary base-the hospital morgue.
