Outside the building, midnight was drawing near.
Gusts of night wind stirred the weeds along the street and the smoke and dust left by the rocket explosions.
"That was the sixth faction to try blasting the door open with a rocket launcher. If this keeps up..."
A shadow passed through Drobada's eyes.
By his reckoning, the enemy's ability could probably distribute every attack against the building evenly across the entire structure.
But energy did not simply vanish. Ultimately, the building would absorb the force of those attacks.
For now, the enemy's ability was forcibly holding the building together. The impacts, unable to dissipate through cracks and breaks, were actually reverberating through every part of the building without pause.
In other words, if the enemy's ability was deactivated, those impacts, originally spread across every square centimeter, might converge again according to the laws of physics.
If there were any weak points in the structure, the eventual result would probably be the building's collapse...
He turned to look at the Twelfth Prince, who was still standing quietly there. The maid beside her was earnestly trying to persuade her to return.
But her gaze remained as calm as still water. Without a word, she simply stared at the building, as though waiting for something.
She's certain Dio can get out unscathed. She's even more confident than I am...
Drobada shook his head and did not dwell on it.
Perhaps it was simply blind trust born of an ordinary person's lack of understanding of the world of Nen users.
He was not optimistic about Dio's chances of defeating the multiple Nen users described, all on his own, especially with a non-Nen-using Private Soldier in tow.
The enemy had clearly come prepared, while Dio had effectively stumbled into an unexpected battle. With a burden tagging along, he was at every possible disadvantage.
Dio... stay alive...
"Ding-dong-"
My phone?
Drobada froze, then took out his phone and glanced at it. What he saw on the screen made his eyes widen.
Then a faint smile tugged at his lips. He strode forward without hesitation and said:
"Your Highness! Please come with me. We need to move farther back."
"...Dio said so."
