Chapter 140: Cheadle × Diagnosis × Growing clearer

Cheadle was pressed for time. When she saw Joey, she merely glanced up at him before burying her head in the sea of documents on her desk again.

Cheadle looked slightly different from an ordinary person. Her nose resembled a dog's, with a brown tip.

Two dog ears stuck out of her long green hair, which Joey guessed were accessories. Cheadle wore round-framed glasses, and together with her perfectly natural, appropriate, and somewhat formal clothing, they gave her a highly capable and intelligent air.

The sight of her working so intently was particularly pleasing, making one reluctant to disturb her and content simply to watch in silence.

"Sorry to interrupt. I'd like to ask some questions about souls." Joey spoke directly, without much hesitation.

Cheadle's time was precious, and he was not the type to drag things out.

"I know you. You're the one who survived [Ming]'s attack. What seems to be the problem? Only by identifying the problem can we prescribe the right treatment and finish it off in one strike!" Holding her pen, Cheadle looked at him through her lenses with a hint of inquiry.

Joey hesitated before stating his terms. "I choose to trust you, so I'll tell you [Ming]'s secret. But you must also promise to keep it confidential. At the very least, you can't tell anyone else for a year."

[Ming] had a secret. That was the message he had already conveyed to Cheadle when he entered this office.

Whether he admitted it or not, that much was extremely easy to guess.

Joey did not mind that. The fact that [Ming] had secrets was itself no secret. After all, there were still few written records of [Ming], and even fewer known survivors of [Ming]'s attacks.
