Chapter 392: The Ticket's Effect × Gathering × Contact
The moment Joey and the others appeared, monsters attacked them too.
No matter how they looked at it, these monsters seemed to be guarding the subway entrance, waiting to attack anyone who came out of the station.
But that clearly wasn't right!
As Joey swept his gaze across the distant battlefield, he relaxed slightly. There were plenty of monsters, but he had yet to spot any that could truly threaten them.
At least there was nothing like Brion here. If these monsters fought using only ordinary attacks, Joey and the others had nothing to fear from them.
So his thoughts focused more on what was wrong with the situation here.
The passengers on the train could be considered citizens living in this Ancient City, yet they had also been attacked by these monsters after emerging from underground. That was somewhat abnormal.
In particular, the panic these creatures displayed, along with the way those lesser sprites transformed into bloated monsters, all indicated that the situation here was not normal.
"Don't tell me those Kakin bastards are behind this again," Razor remarked offhandedly.
He had already run into quite a few Kakin ambushes along the way, and now he was jumping at shadows.
"Is this place their destination too?" Joey raised just one point.
"That, I don't know." Razor shrugged. He was only making a passing remark. Even if Kakin really was behind it, he didn't care.
At this point, Kakin already had so much to answer for that a little more made no difference. If they were caught, either their earlier actions or the trouble they had caused afterward would be enough for any team to crush them outright.
At any rate, if Joey ran into them, he would certainly strike first.
