The so-called Knowledge Treasury was merely Mo Yan's joking name for it.
Its real name should have been a database.
To put it more visually, it was a folder.
The exact name varied according to its creator's personality and habits.
SageMon, for example, called the database he had created the "Digital World Encyclopedia."
SageMon also opened his "Digital World Encyclopedia" to Digimon he approved of, allowing them to search for relevant knowledge and information.
The angel Digimon of the Realm of the Gods called the database created by the Three Great Angels the "Holy Knowledge Repository."
They used it as a shared database for angel Digimon.
Every angel Digimon could not only search it for relevant knowledge and information, but also upload what they had seen and heard, adding new knowledge and information to the "Holy Knowledge Repository."
The Demon Lords and demon gods of the Dark Area called the databases they created the "Dark Bible."
Their main reason for calling their databases that was to disgust the angel Digimon.
As for who had created the largest, most comprehensive database, that honor naturally belonged to Yggdrasill.
After all, Yggdrasill had been born alongside the Digital World.
Moreover, whether a database had been established went a long way toward distinguishing one Digimon from another, and one faction from another.
Digimon with their own databases were generally known as scholar-type Digimon.
The Wizard line of Digimon was a prime example.
For scholar-type Digimon, knowledge was power.
That was why scholar-type Digimon constantly collected and recorded all kinds of knowledge, unwittingly building databases of their own in the process.
Although Digimon lived very long lives, their energy was still limited.
Thus, databases jointly compiled by multiple Digimon, united by their respective factions, came into being.
The older the Digimon or faction, the more comprehensive their database was, indirectly dividing the factions into different tiers.
Of course, not every Digimon would create a database, nor did creating one necessarily make them powerful.
Databases had originally come about because scholar-type Digimon continually gathered knowledge and information for their experiments.
But as time passed, and others followed Yggdrasill's example...
Databases gradually became something more like a legacy.
A teacher's instruction to a student, the passing of the torch from old to new.
They also became one of the bonds holding the various factions of the Digital World together.
After all, a faction needed a sense of shared identity and belonging.
Mo Yan had also established his database with SageMon's help.
After all, Mo Yan had the Twelve Digicores, and creating his own database would slightly reduce his specialization of those DigiCores.
That was also why Mo Yan jokingly called his database the "Knowledge Treasury."
"Because knowledge is precious and priceless.
"That's why I call the database where I store my knowledge the Knowledge Treasury."
Wizard Mo Yan waved a hand, and rows of phantom bookshelves filled with books appeared around him and Wizardmon.
The magnificent sight left Wizardmon awestruck.
At the same time, Wizardmon began to want a "Knowledge Treasury" of his own.
"As my student, you may read all the knowledge I've collected over the years.
"But you must also add your own knowledge to it."
Under Wizardmon's reluctant gaze, Wizard Mo Yan dismissed the phantom shelves and spoke to him in an utterly solemn tone.
"Yes, Teacher."
Hearing Wizard Mo Yan's words, Wizardmon nodded solemnly.
"What do you plan to do next?"
Something seemed to occur to Wizard Mo Yan, and he asked Wizardmon what his plans were.
"!?"
Wizard Mo Yan's question left Wizardmon completely bewildered.
I've only just evolved to Champion. Shouldn't I keep following Mo Yan and learning from him?
Why does that question sound like he's trying to send me away?!
Does he expect me to teach myself!?
"I've already given you permission to access my database. Whatever you don't understand or want to learn, you can find it in the Knowledge Treasury.
"If you really can't find it, you can follow the methods recorded in the treasury to request a connection to the relevant database and search there.
"There's no longer any point in continuing to follow me around."
Pressing a hand to his forehead, Wizard Mo Yan once again experienced the hardships of being a teacher.
Back when he had been a student, he had never been this "stupid."
He had been quite "lively and energetic."
There hadn't been a single Digimon in all of Witchelny who didn't know Mo Yan.
Why did it feel as though, after evolving from Impmon into Wizardmon, his temper and personality had improved a little, but his mind had actually slowed down?
"Well...
"Teacher, I've only just evolved to Champion. There's still so much I don't understand. Couldn't you teach me for a while first?"
Accustomed to Mo Yan's blunt manner, Wizardmon spoke his mind just as directly, without standing on ceremony.
Without a word, Wizard Mo Yan opened a screen of light in front of Wizardmon, covered with the titles of various books.
"A Few Things About the Champion Level"
"How to Quickly Master the Various Abilities of the Champion Level"
"A Complete Guide to Champion Abilities"
"On Training Methods for the Strongest Champions"
There was an astonishing variety, covering every category, with all manner of odd titles.
Looking at this list of books, Wizardmon was utterly dumbfounded.
Am I just that ignorant?
Or has this world always been abnormal?
"Knowledge is power. You must learn to study independently, rather than waiting to be taught.
"What I need is a fellow traveler, not an imitator or a follower, and certainly not a puppet."
Looking at Wizardmon, who had been speechless for some time, Wizard Mo Yan spoke earnestly.
For Wizards and scholar-type Digimon like them, what they needed was a fellow traveler who could explore the unknown and inspire new insights alongside them, not a puppet or a Digimon trailing behind them.
Anyone unable to move forward alongside them was destined to drift farther and farther away.
"Teacher, I understand."
After another brief silence, Wizardmon raised his head to look at Wizard Mo Yan, his eyes shining.
"Then tell me what you plan to do next."
Wizard Mo Yan looked at Wizardmon and repeated his question.
"I'll read these books, absorb their knowledge, and train while searching for Xiao Ai and A Zhen."
Wizardmon first put away the list of books Wizard Mo Yan had shown him, then spoke with determination.
He would find Xiao Ai and A Zhen, uncover the truth of what had happened before, and discover whether they had undergone an "evolution."
That was the decision Wizardmon had made in his heart when he embraced Dark Impmon.
Now, he would face his own heart.
"Very good. Then I look forward to your next 'evolution.'"
With a pleased smile, Wizard Mo Yan's figure scattered on the wind, leaving only a single DigiCore, which spun a few times before flying away through the air.
Xiao Ai, A Zhen, wait for me. I'm back.
Watching the DigiCore fly away, Wizardmon clenched his fists, his heart resolute and his eyes shining.
