Mo Si was not afraid of Kurata's threat, because even if the space-time barrier broke, Yggdrasil was still there.
Judging by the original story, Yggdrasil was perfectly capable of repairing the space-time barrier.
Besides, did Kurata really dare to destroy the space-time barrier? He did not!
No matter how she looked at it, Mo Si had no reason to fear his threat.
"Angewomon, do you think I'm cruel?"
Mo Si did not care what outsiders thought, but she could not disregard Angewomon's opinion. They were two minds sharing one body.
"Not at all," Angewomon said.
She was not merely offering comfort. She genuinely saw nothing wrong with it. Though kindhearted, she showed no mercy to irredeemable enemies.
After thinking for a moment, Angewomon continued, "If I'd faced that threat without you, Mo Si, I probably wouldn't have dared do anything to Kurata. You solved a huge problem."
[Goldramon: 13%]
Noticing the small change on the panel, Mo Si murmured, "Oh? The chance of evolving into Goldramon increased by ten percentage points."
"It should be because we eliminated villains like Belphemon and Kurata," Angewomon said. "That's further proof we did the right thing."
Mo Si smiled faintly.
Still, eliminating Belphemon and Kurata had only earned her ten percentage points. Did she have to eliminate eighteen more villains to raise her chance of evolving into Goldramon to a hundred percent?
Did petty thugs count? If they did, it would not be difficult.
Especially here in America.
"Take Over Magic, Venusmon Soul!"
After resting for a while and recovering some magic power, she took over the Venusmon Soul again and returned to the camera. Smiling, she said gently, "Thank you, everyone! Your strength protected a bright future!"
People around the world had watched Belphemon being destroyed by a single arrow on the livestream and burst into cheers. Having defeated a powerful enemy together, they could not help feeling a little camaraderie.
Kurata's death allowed the peace conference to proceed more smoothly.
Mo Si continued, "From now on, let's make the world a better place together."
"Yeah!"
"Yes, Lady Angewomon!"
"Lady Angewomon is the best!"
"Lady Angewomon is number one in the world!"
"Lady Angewomon, we love and respect you!"
Those who had already ignited their Digisoul undoubtedly represented the human world's future. They were people with truly passionate hearts, and the future belonged to them.
Mo Si looked forward to the future many years from now.
Would they work hand in hand with the Digital World to establish a Pokémon ecosystem with a Digital World flair?
At that thought, Mo Si asked the livestream crew to turn off the camera, then released her Take Over Magic. As she recovered her strength, she turned to look at the western sky.
A few minutes later, she spotted a red dot.
Sleipmon!
"Is it already over?"
When Sleipmon saw Belphemon's Digi-Egg, his astonishment was beyond words. He had truly never expected Angewomon to defeat Belphemon.
Belphemon was one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, a formidable opponent whom even a Royal Knight like him had to take seriously.
Angewomon...
Just how many more surprises do you have that I don't know about?
Sleipmon marveled inwardly.
Mo Si smiled faintly. "Sorry for making you come all this way. Thank you. Your coming meant a great deal to me."
Originally, she had only intended to borrow New York's Digisoul to buy time. She had never expected to borrow it from the entire world and kill Belphemon in a single shot, making Sleipmon's trip seem unnecessary.
Otherwise, Sleipmon would have been her trump card for defeating Belphemon.
Sleipmon smiled gently. "It's all right. What matters is that you're safe."
He picked up Belphemon's Digi-Egg. A Demon Lord's Digi-Egg could not simply be sent back to the Digital World. He needed to find a hidden place to seal it away, lest Belphemon be reborn.
Puzzled, Mo Si asked, "Why not destroy him completely? Like Gizumon. Yggdrasil should be able to do that, right?"
"Indeed," Sleipmon said. "But that would only destroy this particular Demon Lord's Digi-Egg. The Demon Lord's power representing sloth wouldn't disappear. It would merely transfer to another individual of the same type, causing another disaster."
Mo Si understood. "So you use this Demon Lord's Digi-Egg to occupy the position of the Demon Lord of Sloth, preventing a new one from emerging."
In other words, hogging the toilet without taking a dump.
The analogy was a little crude, but that was what it meant.
"Exactly. I'll be going now." Carrying Belphemon's Digi-Egg, Sleipmon prepared to take flight.
Mo Si suddenly said, "Wait, there's one more thing."
"What is it?" Sleipmon paused.
What else is there?
"It's a suggestion."
Mo Si raised a finger. "Establish a few permanent passageways between the Digital World and the human world, and have the Royal Knights patrol inside the space-time barrier. That way, if anyone uses something like a Space-Time Shock Bomb again, you'll detect it immediately."
As she spoke, another question occurred to her. "By the way, do you Royal Knights get paid?"
Sleipmon straightened his chest slightly and lifted his head. "We fight for the honor and justice of the Royal Knights."
So that meant no salary.
Mo Si had originally considered asking Yggdrasil for some sort of reward, but seeing that even the Royal Knights went unpaid, she skipped the subject entirely. "Anyway, that's my suggestion."
"I'll pass your suggestion on to Yggdrasil." Sleipmon nodded. After confirming that Mo Si had nothing else to discuss, he flew into the sky and soon disappeared beyond the horizon.
Mo Si returned to the peace conference venue, dealt with some follow-up matters, and gave a few speeches.
"I owe everything I've achieved today to Yggdrasil's appointment. Yggdrasil is the merciful god of the Digital World..."
[Ophanimon: 3%]
After Mo Si's speech, her chance of evolving into Ophanimon increased slightly.
That was because, according to the lore, Ophanimon conveyed God's loving and merciful side.
Although the "God" in that description was probably not Yggdrasil, both were gods of the Digital World.
Besides, she had not been lying. Yggdrasil could indeed be considered merciful.
In the original story, even after Kurata repeatedly massacred Digimon in the Digital World and killed several Ultimates, Yggdrasil had continued seeking a path to peaceful coexistence. Only when the space-time barrier was destroyed and the two worlds were about to collide had Yggdrasil finally reached the limit.
In Mo Si's eyes, Yggdrasil was simply too merciful, far too willing to endure!
Waiting until the very end to snap was too late.
In fact, if Yggdrasil had lashed out the first time Kurata massacred Digimon, forcing him and his backers to recognize the difference in strength between the two worlds, world peace might have been achieved long ago.
It was all patience until the anger erupted, and then the reaction went too far.
Yggdrasil isn't suited to being the god of the Digital World. I could take that place...
The thought suddenly flashed through Mo Si's mind.
But she quickly pushed it aside.
Personally, she did not want to be some god of the Digital World, and practically speaking, she could not defeat Yggdrasil anyway.
She was better off thinking about her own Ultimate Evolution.
There were four viable evolution paths: Lovely Angemon, Goldramon, Ophanimon, and Venusmon.
She had already taken over Venusmon, so it did not matter whether that probability increased.
"So it seems close-quarters combat raises the chance of evolving into Lovely Angemon, eliminating evil raises the chance of evolving into Goldramon, and spreading love and mercy raises the chance of evolving into Ophanimon."
These were the methods Mo Si had discovered so far, not the only ones.
