The noon bell rang, but no one in the classroom moved. They watched Lu Mingfei stride out with his arms around two beauties, one cold and one warm.
"Take your water back!" Professor Mans called after them.
"You can have it, Professor!" Nono said.
Noon was supposed to be the busiest, most crowded time on campus, but the three of them had such a powerful presence that everyone along their route tacitly cleared a ring of empty space around them, leaving the S-Rank and his two girlfriends room to show off their affection.
This was hard, far too hard. Before going to that damned EVA world, Lu Mingfei had been a boy with a normal education, someone who loathed backward feudal customs without envying them in the slightest. Even when he played porn-focused dating sims, he did it in secret, knowing this was a hobby that could never see the light of day.
But now he could no longer fob these two women off. The ambiguous atmosphere from before had turned into an open contest for his favor, and there was even a faint understanding between them: they fought without falling out. Nono actually seemed to be enjoying herself. As she walked, she hummed a familiar tune: "Fly Me to the Moon."
What, are you hinting that this is a secret only the two of us know? Lu Mingfei remembered that night on the hill behind the school, when he and Nono had watched fireflies. Her birthday had clearly already passed, yet Nono had insisted on saying the timing was perfect. What was that supposed to mean? You couldn't have a birthday without my wishes?
