Miquella looked at the three things before him.
His small hand covered the Fire Monk's Prayerbook.
"This is a serious crime under the Golden Dynasty, you know?" Miquella looked up at Zhao Si.
Zhao Si met his gaze without flinching. "Of course I know, but this serious crime works wonders against Scarlet Rot."
"Are you planning to burn Malenia?" Miquella's gaze turned cold.
Burning Malenia meant hurting her. And Miquella would not allow anyone to hurt Malenia.
"No, no, no, no, calm down. That isn't what I meant." Zhao Si hurried to explain. "This book proves that those people watching over the flame have already obtained some of its power."
Only then did Miquella's expression soften.
Zhao Si continued, "Among the fire incantations, there's one called Flame, Cleanse Me. It's an incantation that ignites flames within your own body to burn away pathogens and eliminate toxins. It works against Scarlet Rot too."
"It works against Scarlet Rot?" Miquella was visibly skeptical.
"Listen, I've traveled too. I've seen plenty of people and things in the Lands Between. I'm not some young master who only stays cooped up at home." Miquella's little face was stern. "I've never heard of anything that can cure Scarlet Rot. Even unalloyed gold that I've sanctified merely resists corrosion."
Pressure. Zhao Si felt an oppressive presence emanating from Miquella's tiny frame.
Appearances could be deceiving. Small did not mean insignificant.
