The weather was a little cool. A faint mist drifted beneath the night sky, making the moonlight hazy.
The streetlamps along Liyue Harbor's streets had lit up, as had the lanterns outside the shops. Together, they cast a bright yellow glow that dispelled the darkness following nightfall.
Li Qiuzhi looked up at the streetlamps, which might have been fueled by kerosene, animal fat, or vegetable oil.
After a moment's thought, he asked Keqing:
"Does Teyvat have a metal that glows when it comes into contact with Electro? If so, we could use it instead of an open flame to make an electric light that's safer and brighter."
He briefly explained how electric lights worked to Keqing.
Back in school, Li Qiuzhi had heard his teacher explain the principle behind electric lights. When the first practical electric lights appeared in the nineteenth century, they worked by passing electricity through carbonized bamboo filaments inside vacuum glass bulbs.
In the early twentieth century, carbon filaments had been replaced by tungsten filaments, which had a higher melting point and greater luminous efficiency.
Teyvat had gold, silver, copper, and iron, so presumably tungsten existed here too. He just did not know whether it was also called "tungsten."
There might even be metals better than tungsten. After all, Elemental Power existed in this world, so reproducing electric lights should not be too difficult.
"Tungsten? There is indeed a metal by that name, but I don't know if it's the same one you're talking about." Keqing rested a hand against her fair chin and pondered for a moment.
"From your description, electric lights really are much better than our current oil lamps. Hmm, I'll have the Ministry of Works forge a tungsten filament tomorrow and give it a try.
"Once we've confirmed there are no problems, I'll
