Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Elite Pathstrider and Master Diviner 6 8 Already ranks among the Luofu’s finest Pathstriders. Reading Emanators exceeds her own strength and requires substantial effort, even with the Matrix of Prescience.
Physical restrictions relieved 11 Lingchen’s Purification removes the pain caused by her body rejecting the Divine Eye, clears accumulated mental fatigue, and slightly improves her Imaginary Energy circulation. This is initially relief rather than a confirmed permanent cure.
Enhanced Divine Eye use 25 Freedom from rejection pain allows her to develop the Eye’s abilities further. She predicts Jing Yuan’s return, though determining an Emanator’s exact movements remains mentally expensive.
Clearer indirect readings involving Lingchen 45 Their growing connection lets her obtain a single clear future image through another person: Topaz kissing Lingchen. Lingchen himself remains unreadable directly.
Breakthrough against divination interference 48 50 After intensifying her training, she briefly penetrates an instrument’s blockade with the Divine Eye and Matrix of Prescience, locating Celenova and Zephyro’s approaching forces.
Mask-assisted power approaching Emanator level 152 154 Lingchen’s mask supplies Elation power. She remains below Emanator level but comes extremely close, deploying a vast Matrix outside the Luofu and precisely adjusting allied positions to evade attacks. This is an externally supported state, not a confirmed permanent promotion.

Background / History

Mentor’s Death and Reliance on Fate

Fu Xuan originally rejected the idea that fate could not be changed. After her mentor operated the Cloudwatcher Mirror, drew an arrow from the Reignbow, and died, she increasingly accepted the inevitability of destiny. Her subsequent divinations repeatedly confirmed their predicted outcomes 9 25.

This conviction became a dependence on advance calculation. She could perform forty or fifty divinations before discussing official business with Jing Yuan and make numerous readings before an ordinary outing. Marshal Hua regarded her as someone who had received Nous’s Divine Eye while effectively closing her own eyes to the world 25.

Fu Xuan devoted herself to work and long coveted the general’s position. Before meeting Lingchen, she had never considered marriage 12.

Hosting Lingchen

Jing Yuan selected Fu Xuan’s residence as temporary accommodation for Lingchen because she could observe the unfamiliar Emanator closely, perform divinations, and avoid unnecessarily antagonizing him. Fu Xuan initially objected to having a stranger placed in her home, but accepted the arrangement as necessary for the Luofu 8 9.

Her attempts to investigate him failed even at close range and with the Divine Eye pushed to its limit. She correctly suspected that he came from outside their universe. After he confirmed this, she agreed to keep his origin secret 10.

Lingchen subsequently used Purification to relieve her chronic Divine Eye pain, calling the treatment payment for his lodging. Her original intention to dismiss him after a short observation period weakened as their trust grew 11 12.

Changing Her View of the Future

Living with Lingchen gradually reduced Fu Xuan’s reliance on divination in everyday life. She realized that she could relax around him, complain openly, and enjoy uncertainty rather than calculate every action beforehand 25 26.

She also accepted Jing Yuan’s criticism of her suitability for command. Her impatience, stubbornness, and excessive trust in fate made her an excellent Diviner but not yet a qualified general. She and Jing Yuan agreed to mentor Qingque jointly and determine whether Qingque was better suited to becoming Diviner or general 40 41.

Fu Xuan still wanted to experience the general’s position, but no longer considered obtaining it indispensable. Lingchen’s arrival had altered futures she previously regarded as fixed, forcing her to reconsider what fate actually meant 41.

The Lord Ravagers’ Approach

After learning that a device was concealing approaching enemies, Fu Xuan concentrated on improving the Divine Eye. She eventually detected Celenova and Zephyro leading a vast Antimatter Legion force toward the Luofu, with only one system hour remaining before their arrival 48 50.

Her calculations indicated that, without Lingchen’s intervention, their viable response required pushing the Eye and Matrix to their limits and calling down an arrow from Lan. She publicly urged Qingque to trust Lingchen while privately resolving to contact Lan if he failed 50.

Lingchen’s overwhelming display of power unsettled her afterward. Unsure what he might become, she asked him not to forget her, and he reassured her that his feelings would remain 55.

Preparations and Acting Command

Lingchen later warned Fu Xuan that a future crisis could kill an Emanator and destroy much of the Luofu’s delve infrastructure. She carried the warning to Jing Yuan and accepted the need for discreet preparations rather than public mobilization 84.

During the developing emergency, she entrusted Qingque with most of the Divination Commission’s sensitive work. This both developed Qingque’s independence and reduced the risk of information spreading through a Commission that itself contained Borisin infiltrators 134.

Fu Xuan monitored Luocha’s movements and contacts, examined Kafka through the Matrix of Prescience, and ultimately released Kafka. Her knowledge of Lingchen’s relationship with the Stellaron Hunters helped her judge that Kafka probably bore the Luofu little ill will 137 143.

When the invasion began, Fu Xuan took responsibility for coordinating the defense and leading the Cloud Knights. Jing Yuan revised some of her calculated plans to account for human behavior, reducing expected casualties and showing her where divination alone remained insufficient 149 150 151.

Using Lingchen’s mask, she then expanded the Matrix of Prescience across the space outside the Luofu, calculating combatants’ movements and repositioning allies at critical moments 152 154.

Appearance

  • Build: Petite and youthful-looking despite being an adult Xianzhou native 9.
  • Hair: Pink; described as particularly silky when Lingchen touches it 24.
  • Eyes: Amber 17.
  • Divine Eye: Set in her forehead and emits pinkish-purple light when activated 10.
  • Clothing: Wears white stockings 9 55.
  • Voice: Resembles a young girl’s, while her usual delivery is brisk and decisive 9.

Personality

Fu Xuan is straightforward, impatient, stubborn, and intensely conscientious. She maintains an imposing professional manner partly because her small stature and youthful appearance make authority harder to project. Her commitment to the Luofu is genuine, but her tendency to trust calculated outcomes can prevent her from accounting for the complexity of human decisions 40 41 150.

Her sternness conceals considerable affection. Qingque is both her chosen successor and a close friend; when Qingque becomes distressed, Fu Xuan instinctively embraces and comforts her. She also tries to console the bereaved Foxian child Xiaoqian, though she recognizes that emotional reassurance is outside her usual expertise 41 42 45.

Around Lingchen, she becomes more expressive and easily embarrassed. She objects to his teasing and affectionate nicknames while increasingly accepting his closeness. His relationships with other women provoke jealousy, but her responsibility toward the Luofu remains independent of their romance 18 24 26 43 56.

Abilities & Skills

Divine Eye

A divination Curio personally bestowed by Nous, the Aeon of Erudition. Before encountering Lingchen, Fu Xuan had never experienced a failed prediction or an object wholly beyond its observation 10 48.

  • Foresight: Predicts arrivals, movements, dangers, and possible future scenes 25 45 50.
  • Tracking: Can locate targets through divination; Sparkle judges that discovery aboard the Luofu could allow Fu Xuan to pinpoint her whereabouts 25.
  • Indirect observation: Can glimpse Lingchen through people connected to him, such as recognizing his hands in Tingyun’s future 16.
  • Direct blind spot: Cannot read Lingchen himself, even after absorbing a trace of his aura at close range 10.
  • Emanator limitation: Their strength and disruptive Path-energy fluctuations make precise advance calculations difficult and costly 6 25 84.
  • Interference: Specialized devices can conceal targets, although sufficiently developed use of the Eye and Matrix can overcome some blockades 48 50.

Matrix of Prescience

The Divination Commission’s Matrix amplifies Fu Xuan’s sight and reduces the burden of difficult readings. It is particularly important when examining Emanators or performing large-scale calculations 6 25.

  • Investigation: Examines Kafka’s purpose in coming to the Luofu 143.
  • Strategic calculation: Supports her search for responses to the approaching Lord Ravagers 50.
  • Battlefield support: With Lingchen’s power, calculates individual movements across a vast combat area and shifts allies out of danger 154.
  • Limit: The precision of that battlefield-wide support exceeds what she can presently achieve without external assistance 154.

Imaginary Energy and Combat

Fu Xuan is a powerful Pathstrider as well as a specialist in divination 8.

  • Can mobilize Imaginary Energy rapidly while forming a sword gesture 11.
  • Channels substantial energy through the Divine Eye when using it at full capacity 10.
  • Approaches—but does not reach—Emanator-level power while using Lingchen’s mask 154.

Leadership and Instruction

  • Commission administration: Directs diviners, delegates work, and organizes sensitive investigations 134 137.
  • Mentorship: Trains Qingque in divination, entrusts her with acting duties, and prepares her for future leadership 14 41 151.
  • Military coordination: Serves as acting general and commands Cloud Knights during the invasion 150 151.
  • Developing judgment: Learns to incorporate morale and human behavior into plans rather than relying exclusively on predicted outcomes 150.

Physiology and Divine Eye Rejection

  • Her Abundance-blessed body has strong self-healing and rejection responses 10.
  • Those responses originally caused continuous pain around the implanted Divine Eye; full-power use multiplied the pain and could leave her pale and sweating 10.
  • Lingchen’s Purification removes the rejection pain and accumulated fatigue, enabling further development of the Eye’s abilities 11 25.
  • Her susceptibility to the mara-struck condition remains a concern; early promises of a complete cure should not be confused with a documented permanent cure 11 12.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Divine Eye — Nous’s forehead-mounted divination Curio and the central tool of her foresight 10 48.
  • Matrix of Prescience — Commission apparatus used to amplify difficult divinations and perform large-scale calculations 6 50.
  • Lingchen’s mask — Supplies Elation power during the Luofu’s defense, supporting her near-Emanator combat output and expanded battlefield Matrix 152 154.
  • Spatial equipment — Owns spatial equipment herself and therefore finds Lingchen’s apparent storage ability unremarkable 9.
  • Divination implements — Keeps enough tools at home that most spare rooms are occupied by them 9.

Relationships

  • Lingchen — Initially her lodger and observation target; later a trusted confidant, healer, and romantic partner. He relieves her chronic pain and helps loosen her dependence on fate. She accepts physical affection but worries that his future transformation could distance him from her 9 11 26 55 56.
  • Jing Yuan — Fellow Luofu leader and the general whose position she hopes to experience. He trusts her ability but challenges her impatience and excessive reliance on divination, later guiding her through acting command 8 40 41 150.
  • Qingque — Subordinate, chosen successor, and genuine friend. Fu Xuan pushes her toward responsibility, protects her when distressed, and gives her increasingly important assignments 14 45 134 151.
  • Marshal Hua — Senior authority who knows the damage caused by Fu Xuan’s mentor’s death. Hua welcomes the changes in her behavior and asks Lingchen to treat her well 25.
  • Sparkle — An irritating houseguest and romantic rival. Fu Xuan dislikes her teasing and Masked Fool behavior, but nevertheless offers her accommodation when she appears hurt 23 29 56.
  • Topaz — Visitor whose future romance with Lingchen Fu Xuan foresees. Fu Xuan delivers the prediction despite her jealousy and later allows Topaz to see her being held by Lingchen partly to assert her earlier place in his affections 45 56.
  • Xiaoqian — Bereaved Foxian child whom she tries to comfort. Fu Xuan recognizes her intelligence and considers her a potential future recruit for the Divination Commission 41 42.
