Background / History

Elysia received gifts in a village during childhood and learned to make simple treats, but never attended school. Her formal knowledge remained limited to reading and basic mathematics 174 182 188.

After noticing that she differed from ordinary people, she set out alone to see the world. Her travels included hearing beautiful songs, visiting martial arts schools, and witnessing villagers consume a mysterious being’s flesh and blood as a supposed remedy. She remembered Mama Cecilia as an especially significant person in her life 173 187.

Before preparing to join MOTH, Elysia knew Honkai creatures only as monsters. When Lingchen first finds her in the Previous Era, she is using a bow against Honkai Beasts near the Second Herrscher’s combat zone 171 173.

Appearance

Elysia has long pink hair and a youthful, expressive face. Her eyes are initially described as pink; a closer description identifies pink pupils within bluish eyes 171 172.

Personality

Elysia is cheerful, affectionate, and openly proud of her beauty. She enjoys teasing others, yet sincere romantic attention easily leaves her blushing and flustered. Her confidence in initiating playful exchanges contrasts sharply with her difficulty receiving them 171 172 187.

Her love of beauty includes both appearance and character. She readily befriends people who approach with goodwill, but her broad love for humanity initially makes individual romantic attachment difficult to distinguish from friendship. Despite her physical affection and teasing, she maintains personal boundaries 171 183.

Her kindness is active rather than indiscriminate. She repeatedly fights Honkai, helps children suffering from Honkai Disease, and is willing to act against evildoers. She does not object when Lingchen eliminates people threatening their Twilight Street mission 189 191 198.

Learning that she is a Herrscher exposes a more vulnerable side. Familiar with the destruction caused by other Herrschers, she fears rejection and questions whether she can still be considered human. Lingchen’s reassurance and her friends’ trust help restore her confidence 182 183.

Elysia also values reciprocity. Rather than continually accepting Lingchen’s gifts without responding, she improves her homemade treats, prepares everyday gifts and handicrafts, and commissions a highly personalized combat Doll for him 174 188 201.

Herrscher of Origin — Symmetry Breaking

Lingchen describes Elysia’s innate ability as Symmetry Breaking, or a “Wish Machine.” It is the miracle through which she escaped Finality’s binding 182.

• Can influence fate toward a desired outcome; her ability is described as stronger in this respect than the inherited Raiden Mei version of Origin 179.
• Gives her the potential to help future Herrschers develop humanity and escape predetermined fate 202 203.
• Is closely tied to Elysia herself. Mobius’s research concludes that accomplishing her original plan requires her return to the Cocoon of Finality 202.
• Does not rely on a Herrscher Core 179.

True Self is the elevated Authority Lingchen obtains in connection with Elysia, rather than a separately documented transformation she acquires. He later gives his Authority the alternate name “Elysia” 182 204.

• Mobius — A close friend and favorite target of teasing. Elysia regularly brings her food; Mobius carefully prepares her combat medicines and helps conceal her abnormal physical data. Their affection is often expressed through arguments, pranks, and Mobius’s insistence that she hates Elysia 176 180 182 195 204.
• Mei — A trusted colleague whose MOTH registration Elysia helps complete. Mei destroys suspicious physical data to protect her and later assigns her the Twilight Street recruitment mission 180 182 189.
