Blocking the Magic Spear and keeping it from advancing an inch was a red polygon of much the same color.
After reaching the ultimate spiritual state of the world through Made in Heaven's cycles, Roland's AT Field had long since ascended into a genuine miracle.
It was a privilege created by the concept of separating that rejection of the heart from the world. Even the will of fate itself could not interfere in any way before breaking through Roland's heart. Beside this ability, its equally dramatic growth in defensive strength had instead become something of an incidental feature.
Yet even this field, which would not tremble at all when facing an attack capable of destroying the entire Island Nation at point-blank range, could not help rippling layer after layer before Scáthach's spear tip, which struggled ceaselessly against its surface as though alive.
Had this strike landed properly, the already riddled Land of Shadows would probably have suffered again.
During the previous assault, Scáthach had used the opening when she was sent flying. She had not retreated even half a step, instead launching a swift attack the moment her body was freed.
