Yoshimura, who rented the place, stood in the courtyard, gazing up at the full moon hanging in the night sky.
"Manager, it's almost time, isn't it?"
Behind Yoshimura was the living room, connected to the courtyard by an open sliding glass door.
Renji Yomo spoke in a low voice as he placed a plate of green peppers on the dining table.
"Yes, it's almost time." Yoshimura's voice was low, and he seemed to be thinking about something.
After a long while, Yoshimura asked, "Yomo, do you think what I did was right or wrong?"
He was asking about his decision to abandon most of the Ghouls Anteiku had supported and sheltered, protecting only a small handful so they could scrape by.
"I don't know." Renji Yomo shook his head, then handed the freshly cooked green peppers to Touka Kirishima, who sat nearby.
Holding her chopsticks, Touka Kirishima silently picked up a piece of the Bamboo Plank and put it in her mouth. Then her expression changed.
"Can't you eat vegetables?"
Renji Yomo frowned and asked in a voice full of concern:
"Did something go wrong with the gene adjustment?"
But just then, Touka Kirishima merely raised her head and gave Renji Yomo a dark look.
"Just how much salt did you put in these green peppers?"
Renji Yomo froze at her words, then immediately looked embarrassed. "Huh? Aren't you supposed to boil green peppers with salt... All right, I understand. I'll be more careful next time."
Behind the kitchen counter, Hinami Fueguchi poked her head out and rubbed salt in his wound:
"I told you not to put in too much of that white stuff."
