Having landed on her backside, Chisato Nishikigi rubbed the sore spot as she quickly scrambled up and checked her surroundings.
She looked around, but all she saw were unbroken stretches of forest and grass, without a trace of human habitation. She was beside a small stream.
"You've got to be kidding..."
At the sight, Chisato Nishikigi immediately realized she had been dumped deep in the wilderness.
She patted the dust off her skirt, then straightened up and said:
"I expected us to get separated, but being scattered this far apart is seriously bad news."
As she spoke, Chisato Nishikigi checked the weapons concealed on her.
A SIG pistol, three magazines, a Combat Knife, a roll of Hemostatic Bandage with something extra added, and, besides those, an emergency escape device and a silver metal case containing the "Demon God."
And, most importantly, the custom phone Signal Device hidden in her pocket.
Chisato Nishikigi switched on the Signal Device first, trying to check which direction Luo Shu and Takina Inoue were in. But when she saw the screen showing no signal, she froze:
"No signal, no map, and I've been dumped in the middle of nowhere. Sure, I like watching Bear Grylls's wilderness survival shows, but that doesn't mean I plan to personally-"
As Chisato Nishikigi muttered, a long, dark shape slowly rose from beneath the water in the stream behind her.
A forked tongue flicked into the air, and golden, bestial eyes stared greedily and hungrily at the girl's back.
Human flesh...
The next instant, water splashed as the Snake Demon lurking beneath it shot toward Chisato Nishikigi with lightning speed, like a bullet leaving its barrel.
