  • Luo Shu asked Maria to become his pet dog, and she barked before he declared they had reached an agreement.

Ch. 162Maria Naruse had something to say

  • Maria Naruse demanded to know why she could not undo the mental suggestion, and Luo Shu concluded that Calamity might have strengthened the control when it returned it to her.
  • Luo Shu ordered Maria to sit, and she lay down obediently before blushing and threatening to get back at him.
  • Luo Shu told Utaha Kasumigaoka that he had come to investigate the unregistered Succubus café because an Abyssal Artifact transfer operation was approaching.
  • Maria learned that SdS had established a new branch near Fanglin Park, less than fifty meters from the café's back door.

Ch. 163Kasumigaoka "Backed Out"

Luo Shu explained that he had let Maria Naruse go to draw out the people behind her, while discussing Utaha Kasumigaoka’s potential abilities and Class. After Utaha backed out of Luo Shu’s flirtatious invitation and left for the subway, Luo Shu returned to the Secret Management Department headquarters and encountered an unexpected guest.

  • Him praised Luo Shu's intelligence and offered him a job as head of the Intelligence Department, teasing him about serving as her secretary.
  • Luo Shu asked Him to be serious, and she told him that the pursuit of Miss Kisara was a smokescreen for the Knowledge faction's withdrawal from East Asia.
  • Him said SdS suspected that something dangerous had appeared in East Asia, though Japan had seen no major incidents beyond the operation to seal off Chiba Prefecture.
  • Him told Luo Shu that Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department had been reporting frequent sightings of Man-Eating Oni.

Ch. 166A test

Him explained the Abyssal Descent and tasked Luo Shu with assessing the newly discovered Ghouls, teasing him with a personal test and a promised reward. After Him flew away, Kisara caught Luo Shu with questions about the woman who had kissed him.

  • Tachibana Kirika warned Luo Shu that retrieving the Ghoul intelligence could be difficult and advised him not to go too far when dealing with the police.
  • Luo Shu said he would handle the assignment as a model student, while implying he might cause trouble if the Metropolitan Police Department refused to cooperate.

Ch. 171Juzo Megure's "Trouble"

Ch. 172Juzo Megure was ready to apologize (4/4)

Ch. 174Who would really reap the rewards?

Luo Shu uncovered that a Divine General had leaked Tachibana Kirika’s movements and recognized the Metropolitan Police Department’s plan to pit SdS against the Ministry of the Environment. He agreed to meet the Ministry’s representatives alongside Kiyonaga Matsumoto, and Tachibana Kirika immediately challenged their introductions.

  • Luo Shu used the Occult Studies Encyclopedia to discover that Suzuka Dairenji, the Divine General Taiyin, had predicted Tachibana Kirika’s objective and informed someone in the Metropolitan Police Department.
  • Luo Shu deduced that the Metropolitan Police Department’s senior officials wanted SdS and the Ministry of the Environment to clash while they reaped the rewards.
  • Luo Shu asked Kiyonaga Matsumoto whether Taiyin had supplied his story about stray dogs, making Matsumoto suspect SdS had anticipated the department’s scheme.
  • Luo Shu proposed meeting the Ministry of the Environment’s representatives, and Kiyonaga Matsumoto agreed despite his unease.
  • Noriyuki Iijima and Yomi Isayama arrived from the Disaster Management Office and introduced themselves to Tachibana Kirika.

  • Luo Shu saw that Yomi Isayama was enveloped in calamity and considered absorbing it for experience, though doing so would require physical contact.
  • Tachibana Kirika tried to recruit Yomi, but Yomi refused to leave the Disaster Countermeasures Bureau.

  • Kisara warned Luo Shu that Yomi Isayama was dangerous, then admitted she was jealous because Yomi matched Luo Shu's preferred type of girl.
  • Luo Shu and Kisara got into Wataru Takagi's police car, and Luo Shu decided to treat the Ghoul investigation as an assessment for recruiting Kisara into his Familia.
  • Juzo Megure and his colleagues drove toward Beika Town, followed by Noriyuki Iijima with Yomi Isayama in his BMW.
  • Him told Eto Yoshimura that identifying Luo Shu and revealing his preferences or background would cost far more than the two million dollars Eto offered.
  • Eto Yoshimura declined to pay the higher price and left Him's establishment.

Ch. 178Eto Yoshimura never saw it coming

  • Luo Shu demanded thirteen billion yen and an additional police donation, then offered to provide Ghoul bodies in exchange for eight billion yen and information from captured Ghouls.
  • Guo Yi praised Luo Shu’s business sense and agreed that his company would provide the money.

Ch. 180Witnessing Luo Shu's methods

  • Luo Shu explained that he could extract memories, then pulled Yamori's memories from his mind in front of Juzo Megure, Miwako Sato, and Guo Yi, forming them into a white glass marble.
