Edward lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
He was not entirely staring into space, since part of his consciousness was trading blows with the Mother Tree of Desire inside Suah's head, tormenting Suah into a nervous breakdown and making him wish he could die on the spot.
Meanwhile, as Suah suffered his nervous breakdown, he kept broadcasting across almost the entire Prisoner Pathway, tormenting all his believers until they, too, wished they were dead. Together, they had delivered an excellent performance as "Lunatics" tonight and endured immense suffering.
And he was inside Suah's head, earnestly trying to persuade him.
Persuade him to die.
He had yet to achieve any interim results, however. It was not because Suah's convictions surpassed Adam's, but because the Mother Tree of Desire's spirituality had not yet been completely expended in mutual destruction with his own. With someone backing him, Suah still dreamed of his parents standing up for him.
Although he had taken control of most of Suah's body, the Mother Tree of Desire had temporarily immobilized it with "Mind-and-Body Dual Self-Restraint." His own spiritual activity had consequently been suppressed to its lowest level, forcing him to change tactics from fierce attacks to gradual encroachment.
But this was merely a delaying tactic. His victory was entirely foreseeable.
With his body and mind restrained, Suah could neither perform rituals to petition the Mother Tree of Desire nor readily respond to the Indulgence Faction's believers. The blessings of the Mother Tree of Desire within him would slowly run out sooner or later.
Once the Mother Tree of Desire's spirituality disappeared, the almost-stalled corruption progress bar would shoot forward again, causing problems with Suah's sense of self until he finally became part of him.
That way, even a relatively fragile vessel whose Sequence was insufficient,
