In Enmat Harbor, Leonard looked at Daly Simone, who had volunteered to team up with him.
"Where should we start? Any suggestions?"
Daly, whose attire possessed an uncanny beauty and mature air, pulled up the hood of her black Spirit Medium robe and glanced at Leonard Mitchell.
"This is the time for a gentleman to demonstrate his initiative and style."
Leonard glanced at the red glove on his left hand and said thoughtfully,
"Let's start with Captain Soest's arrangements. We might uncover some clues, but they won't necessarily be useful. I suspect Her Excellency the Eye of the Goddess knows that too. She's simply finding us something to do to mislead Ince Zangwill."
"Why do you say that?" Daly wasn't joking. Her expression was unusually serious.
Leonard glanced around, his voice unconsciously dropping.
"0-08 has the characteristic of 'once you know of it, it knows of you.' Although we only use a code name we devised ourselves and should be on the fringes of its attention, we're a Red Gloves team investigating Ince Zangwill and have discussed him repeatedly. I think 0-08 might already know our situation. In that case, if Ince Zangwill hasn't completely lost his mind as we imagine, he'll know that his abnormal state has been exposed. Then he can deliberately create coincidences to evade us."
Recalling the information about Ince Zangwill, Daly nodded.
"Soest mentioned this problem at the beginning too, but he didn't explain it as clearly as you did. He was still working backward from our failures to possible causes."
