Klein stood on a deserted street corner and quietly finished reading the newspapers.

He folded up the sheets covered in Feysac writing, intending to burn them, but after hesitating for a moment, he tucked them into the bundle he carried with an inexplicable feeling.

According to Saint Tenebrous, clashes had already broken out between Loen and Feysac along the border. This time, Feysac had an entirely legitimate pretext for war. The only drawback was that every country could claim a share of the spoils. Rather than a war, it felt more like an attempt to use international public pressure to force Loen to step down or even cede territory-everyone knew that the Feysac people wanted to push westward from the Sonia Sea and seize more of the Rorsted Archipelago.

The bakeries and shops selling food ingredients along the street were noticeably busier than usual today. Sacks bearing the Fitus Food Factory trademark were being carried back and forth, some bought by impatient customers before they could even be placed on the counters.

He thought of Melissa and Benson, and suddenly wanted very, very much to go and take a look at their home.

While Klein was still weighing the matter in his head, his feet had already faithfully begun taking him in another direction. He mentally listed what he needed to do:

Frank's mushrooms had arrived. All he needed was a trip to the warehouse at the wharf
