Background and History
Childhood and Enrollment
Wu Feng grew up alongside Ning Tian in the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. Although she addresses Ning Tian as “Young Master” or “Young Mistress” and serves as her bodyguard, the two are as close as sisters. After awakening her Martial Soul, Wu Feng became the sect’s “little demon king,” frightening away Ning Tian’s admirers and even the boy assigned to her own companionship 42 406.
The sect sent both girls to Shrek primarily for Wu Feng’s development. Its intended path was for her to become Yan Shaozhe’s disciple and subsequently receive guidance on dragon Martial Souls from Mu En. Ning Tian’s account distinguishes this plan from its failure in the original timeline 315.
Freshman Competition
Wu Feng first encounters Chen Ping when she mistakes him for someone following Ning Tian. She orders Ning Tian to run and attacks him; the misunderstanding escalates when he repeatedly intercepts Ning Tian’s speed enhancements 42 43. Within half a month, the three become familiar companions, and Chen Ping and Ning Tian maneuver Wu Feng into the freshman class-monitor position 61 62.
During the Freshman Competition, she acts as their principal attacker against weaker teams, allowing her partners to conceal their abilities. She defeats Ouyang Junyi, Chen Junfeng, and Zhao Haochen alone, appropriating Zhao Haochen’s chicken-leg buffs before ejecting all three from the arena 90 92. In the semifinal, Chen Ping launches her into Class Ten’s team, helping secure victory in five seconds and a place in the final 119.
Her later assessment performance earns 170 points: she repeatedly knocks down a two-thousand-year Soul Beast until it crawls back into its pen rather than continue fighting 161.
Tournament and Soul-Bone Acquisition
Wu Feng joins Shrek’s reserve team for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Tournament. Despite being a Soul Elder, she demonstrates combat strength comparable to an ordinary Soul Ancestor 193 199. Against Yang Yifan, she intercepts his dagger and strikes him with Dragon’s Wrath, but Tang Yaolei’s explosive arrow overwhelms her defensive soul tool and consumes more than eighty percent of her Soul Power 261.
During a later Star Dou Forest expedition, she fights a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear and accepts its external right palm bone from Chen Ping. Her desire to remain an effective member of their three-person team helps sustain her through the dangerous fusion 337 338 340 341. Before Chen Ping leaves for the Sun Moon Empire, she arranges for her father to find him a ten-thousand-year Diamond Mammoth Soul Bone, while embarrassedly denying that it is her own gift 349.
Inner Court and Later Tournament
At the Inner Court’s matchmaking gathering, Wu Feng openly calls Chen Ping “my man” and confronts those challenging their relationship 515 516. Her Flame Dragon Battle Armor lets her briefly contest Ji Juechen, although the seven-ring swordsman ultimately eliminates her 520 524.
In the subsequent tournament, she kills Ye Canshang, a Holy Spirit Cult member embedded in the Sun Moon team. Her hostility reflects both his sect’s threats against Chen Ping and her firsthand experience of Evil Soul Masters’ atrocities 586 589 700. Against Meng Hongchen, she abandons her usual close-combat approach, using a borrowed cannon and aerial positioning to disrupt an ice-poison attrition strategy 591.
Divine Trial and Defense of Shrek
When Ning Rongrong demands that she choose between her own life and Chen Ping’s, Wu Feng immediately chooses to die herself, reasoning that Chen Ping could resurrect them and eventually kill their tormentor. Chen Ping subsequently offers to take Ning Rongrong’s lashes in her place and faces a coerced choice involving keepsakes that might revive Wu Feng and Ning Tian 700 701.
At her latest documented appearance, Wu Feng attempts to prevent Sea Dragon Douluo from seizing Chen Ping. Although knocked aside, she pierces his palm with her Dark Gold Flame Dragon Claw and draws blood 954.
Appearance
- Hair and build: Red-haired, initially petite and slender; her hair grows longer and her figure becomes fuller during her separation from Chen Ping 42 396 405.
- Notable clothing: An ochre robe with red sleeves and gold patterns 405.
- Martial Soul possession: Her body becomes taller, heat radiates from her, and fine red dragon scales cover portions of her face, neck, shoulder, and arm 42.
- After soul-bone fusion: Her transformed left claw remains crimson, while her right claw becomes golden-red with dark-gold blades 341 413.
Personality
Wu Feng is fiercely loyal and initially overprotective of Ning Tian. Even harmless circumstances can make her suspect danger, but her vigilance grows from a genuine commitment to her childhood companion’s safety 42. That protectiveness later extends to Chen Ping: threats against him anger her more than equivalent threats against herself 586.
She is proud, competitive, and easily provoked, yet also readily confused by Chen Ping’s arguments. Embarrassment often leaves her stammering, blushing, or visibly steaming; her attempts to deny affection can contradict her own actions 90 349 419. She also enjoys food and mischievously teasing Ning Tian about her relationship with Chen Ping 62 238 407.
Her comic behavior does not diminish her determination. Anxiety about falling behind Chen Ping drives her to endure dangerous soul-bone backlash, while encounters with Evil Soul Masters harden her willingness to kill confirmed perpetrators 340 341 589.
Abilities & Skills
Red Dragon Martial Soul and Dragon Transformation
Her Red Dragon Martial Soul provides powerful physical attributes, fire attacks, and partial draconic transformation 338 341.
- Early partial Avatar transformation: Dragon Transformation allows part of her body to undergo a Martial Soul Avatar-like change before she reaches the corresponding realm 341.
- Enhanced durability: Her transformed claw catches Yang Yifan’s dagger Martial Soul; its increased sharpness leaves only several cuts 261.
- Soul-bone compatibility: Strengthening her right arm through transformation helps suppress the Dreadclaw bone’s exceptionally sharp, destructive energy during absorption 341.
First Soul Skill: Dragon’s Fire
Dragon’s Fire envelops her in red flames and adds scorching heat and a burning effect to her strikes 43 98.
- Extends flames approximately one foot around her body during its early demonstration 43.
- Can be concentrated into flaming claw attacks or powerful Flame Fists 98 261.
Second Soul Skill: Dragon’s Wrath
Dragon’s Wrath greatly increases her offensive and defensive attributes and amplifies her soul skills for its duration 261 587.
- Turns her flames dark red and makes her scales thicker and heavier 43.
- Combined with Ning Tian’s strength and speed boosts, raises her freshman-era offense close to that of a rank-forty Soul Ancestor 117.
Third Soul Skill: Dragon Burst
A thousand-year soul-ring skill that detonates a crimson explosion around Wu Feng and her immediate target 337.
- Its fire-attribute shock wave spreads ten meters.
- Blasts the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear several meters away 337.
Scarlet Dragon Scorches the Heavens
A technique learned from Mu En that produces a dramatic change in her Red Dragon’s manifestation 338 340.
- Changes her flames from orange-red to scarlet-gold.
- Spreads dragon scales over her entire body while she is using Dragon’s Wrath.
- Produces a fiercer, more dominant aura than the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear she is confronting 338.
Dark Gold Flame Dragon Claw
Her external right palm bone merges and mutates with her Red Dragon Martial Soul, combining dark-gold sharpness with draconic fire 341 345 346.
- Physical blades: Five blades emerge from her fingertips, each one foot and two inches long 341.
- Projected attacks: Produces a three-meter scarlet-gold claw silhouette during testing and a four-meter claw attack against Golden Wolf Kings 346 414.
- Defense-breaking power: Can shatter Dai Huabin’s protective barrier with roughly one swipe and leave five claw marks in Ji Juechen’s sword 516 520.
- Cost: Consumes enough Soul Power that she can use only a few full claw attacks before exhausting her reserves 516.
Close Combat and Team Coordination
- Giant Dragon Crash: A self-created straight-line charge using Martial Soul possession to knock opponents away. The narration compares its impact to a ten-year first soul skill without additional Soul Power expenditure 92.
- Buff-assisted feints: Uses a precisely timed speed enhancement to sidestep Wang Dong and threaten Huo Yuhao and Xiao Xiao behind her 105 106.
- Silent cooperation: Understands Ning Tian’s gestures well enough to evade an attack from behind without seeing it herself 113.
- Launch attacks: Can throw Chen Ping across an arena or serve as the projectile when he launches her 112 119.
- Limitations: Her impact-heavy attacks struggle against Xie Huanyue’s kinetic-energy absorption, and battlefield-control effects can interrupt her speed advantage 106 112.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Flame Dragon Battle Armor / Flame Dragon Armor — Full-body Thousand Refinement armor with red plating, white titanium-steel detailing, protective blue gemstone goggles, and openings for her Dreadclaws 520 524.
- Its enhancement raises her Soul King-era speed and strength to levels associated with Agility Attack and Power Attack Soul Emperors, respectively 587.
- Turbojet thrusters enable sudden directional changes, aerial pursuit, and hovering 587 591.
- Powerful enough to help her briefly hold off Ji Juechen alongside Ma Xiaotao, but insufficient to overcome his two-realm cultivation advantage 524.
- Class Three triggered defensive soul tool — A waist-mounted device that automatically encloses her in a barrier. It withstands Tang Yaolei’s explosive arrow only briefly and drains more than eighty percent of her Soul Power 261.
- Flying Soul Tool — Used for travel and to arrest her fall after an accidental near-hundred-meter leap 332 408.
- Soul Tool Exoskeleton, tested — Chen Ping’s experimental movement-enhancement frame; Wu Feng accidentally launches herself almost a hundred meters upward before understanding its output 407 408.
- Class Five Super-Concentrated Energy Cannon, borrowed — Xiao Xiao’s weapon, used against Meng Hongchen while Wu Feng ascends to the tournament’s thirty-meter flight limit without losing the cannon’s charge 591.
- Fire Dragon Grass — An immortal herb given to her by Chen Ping. He instructs her to eat the thorns, leaves, and stamens while preserving the stem and roots for replanting 754.
Relationships
- Ning Tian — Childhood companion, charge, and closest confidante. Their relationship is explicitly closer to sisterhood than a simple mistress–servant arrangement 42 315.
- Chen Ping — Initially mistaken for a stalker, then a teammate and romantic partner. Wu Feng openly defends him as “my man,” while his support motivates her determination to keep pace with him 42 340 515 586.
- Wu Fentian — Her father, the rank-ninety-one Red Demon Douluo and one of two Titled Douluos stationed at the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect’s headquarters 430.
- Mu En — A childhood idol who later teaches her Scarlet Dragon Scorches the Heavens. She is mortified to discover that the old man outside the dormitory is the Dragon God Douluo she admired 318 340.
- Ning Rongrong — An antagonistic divine examiner. Wu Feng openly threatens eventual retaliation against her, prompting Chen Ping to intervene when punishment is threatened 700 701.
