Background / History

Divine origins and resurrection

Xiao Zi originally existed as the Destruction God King, an aspect of the Creator God. He and the Goddess of Life had been married for hundreds of thousands of years. He supported expanding the Divine Realm so that talented people would not be denied opportunities, but Tang San opposed expansion, citing an approaching calamity. Xiao Zi repeatedly yielded because the Goddess of Life supported Tang San and he trusted her absolutely 2 18.

After suffering Tang San's schemes, Xiao Zi survived as a wandering remnant soul. Luo Feng discovered him, learned his history, and offered to resurrect him if he joined Earth as a citizen of Huaxia Country. Using Reverse Time and Space, Luo Feng restored him without demanding repayment beyond remembering his identity as an Earthling 2.

At Xiao Zi's request, Luo Feng sent him to the Douluo Continent, though he arrived ten thousand years after the Battle of the Two Gods rather than returning to his own era. Qian Renxue's sacrifice repaired his body and preserved her soul within his Sea of Consciousness. He began his new life with rank-twenty soul power and twin martial souls 2 3 6.

Establishing the Li Lezi identity

Initially, the world's laws caused people and beasts to overlook Xiao Zi unless he actively engaged them. He exploited this concealment to accumulate wealth, reaching more than one million Gold Soul Coins after entering Star Luo City 4 5.

Xiao Zi placed Dai Huabin under Soul Enslavement and entered the White Tiger Duke's household as his study companion. This cover gave him the standing needed to enroll at Shrek Academy without exposing his true identity 9 15.

At Shrek, he used the name Li Lezi and concealed his hostility toward Tang San and the academy. He recognized Wang Dong as Tang San's daughter, noticed the damage and seal affecting her soul, and considered using her to pass false information to her father 11.

Personality

Xiao Zi is calculating, self-interested, and willing to deceive others to achieve his aims. The narration attributes this partly to his destruction godhood and partly to the distrust produced by Tang San's betrayal. He frequently hides his intentions behind courtesy, apparent weakness, or a subordinate role 5 15 26 60.

His ruthlessness coexists with an appreciation for talent. His original support for Divine Realm expansion came from wanting gifted people to receive opportunities, and he regrets seeing promising soul masters limited by poor instruction. He does not regard Huo Yuhao as an enemy merely for being a Child of Fate, but makes clear that he will show no mercy if Huo Yuhao opposes him 18 20.

Although reserved and poor with words in his former life, Xiao Zi is deeply grateful to Luo Feng and comes to regard him as a master. His ambitions extend beyond reclaiming his old position: he rejects inherited godhood as a ceiling on growth and wants to pursue the wider universe of Swallowed Star 2 6 20.

In his new life, he becomes openly receptive to romance while maintaining several relationships in secret. Qian Renxue holds a distinct place in his affections because they share their life and origin. Shrek Infiltration and the First Tournament

Xiao Zi remains at Shrek to exploit its resources rather than out of loyalty. He covets the Golden Tree's source essence, resents the academy's neglect of soul engineering, and avoids unnecessary exposure while cultivating under the Li Lezi identity 15 17 23 26.

After training with the Fire Hammer Squad in Swallowed Star, he travels to the Far North, gains his third Golden Horned Beast ring, and accepts the Snow Empress's sacrifice. In Star Luo City, he obtains the Spirit-Devouring Carving Knife and forms ties with Xu Jiujiu and the Hongchen siblings 41 42 46 54 56 58.

He then strengthens Shrek's tournament team, defeating Ye Wuqing and neutralizing Dou Ling's Level 7 Soul Cannon. In the final, however, he sabotages Shrek's chances and deliberately loses to Meng Hongchen. Sun Moon wins the championship 2–0, ending Shrek's ten-thousand-year winning streak 65 71 77 78.

Sun Moon Exchange and Elite Training

Before leaving Shrek, Xiao Zi links destinies with the Three-Eyed Golden Lion and reaches rank forty-five. He later joins the Sun Moon exchange program, studies under Xuan Ziwen, and obtains his fifth ring in the Jingyang Mountain Range 86 88 91 93 96.

He spends two years in Swallowed Star's Elite Training Camp, balancing gravity training with monster hunting. Returning to Douluo, he restores the Snow Empress, receives adapted Supreme Treasures from Luo Feng, and obtains the rings needed to become a rank-seventy-five Soul Saint 102 103 105 106.

Mingdu Tournament and Staged Death

Tang Wutong registers Xiao Zi with the Tang Sect's tournament team. He sweeps the Earth Dragon Sect, secretly enters Mingdu's underground soul engineer competition for rare metals, and develops a fusion bond with Ye Guyi 114 120 123.

Accepting Du Busi's commission, he challenges all seven Holy Spirit Sect competitors to a death match and kills them. His subsequent use of a spatial teleportation array greatly increases his standing among the continent's factions 129 130 134.

To escape public attention, he selects a dangerous mission and arranges for Xuan Zi to accompany him. The world subsequently believes that Evil Soul Masters killed him because Xuan Zi failed to protect him. Xiao Zi instead withdraws to the Lake of Life 136 139 153.

Family, Ruins, and Return to Godhood

Xiao Zi brings Qian Renxue and Ye Guyi to Swallowed Star, delays exploring the No. 9 Ancient Civilization Ruins for his family, and welcomes the birth of his twins. After the children turn one, he and Qian Renxue prepare to enter the ruins together 142.

Trapped in a sealed chamber for a year, he develops his Spiritual Force through the Basic 312 Forms. He eventually returns to Douluo with Ye Guyi after celebrating the twins' third birthday and reaches rank ninety-six 143 144 145.

By the time he reunites with Ju Zi, Xiao Zi is a rank-ninety-nine Limit Douluo. At the Lake of Life, sacrifices from the ferocious beasts and Gu Yuena fully restore the Destruction Scepter and raise him to level one hundred. He then ascends toward the Divine Realm to settle his old grievances 152 153.

In the finale, he is a World Lord in Swallowed Star and marries Qian Renxue, herself a Domain Lord, with the Giant Axe Founder officiating 154.
