Daode was not dead. This was undoubtedly an event great enough to shake the entire universe.

Heaven Venerable Daode had attained the Dao a hundred thousand years ago and once ruled over all the heavens. But during his Second Lifetime, he had used his own body to suppress a demon, and his fate had remained unknown ever since.

A hundred thousand years had passed. Everyone believed that even if Heaven Venerable Daode had not fallen back then, he should have long since passed away in meditation, leaving no trace of himself in the world.

Yet while traveling through the mortal world, He Mu had made an astonishing discovery. Heaven Venerable Daode might not have died as everyone believed. He might even still exist somewhere in the universe today.

On reflection, that was only natural. In He Mu's memories, an emperor's corpse would awaken to spiritual awareness on the Primordial Ancient Star in a later age and call himself Li Er. In his previous life, he had been Heaven Venerable Daode of the Mythological Era.

But right now, the Kunlun Immortal Clan was still at the height of its power. Its might was so overwhelming that every race in the universe gave it a wide berth. Even on the Primordial Ancient Star, more than one Supreme still remained.

With Supremes occupying that ancient star, burying one's body there was far from easy. A single misstep could ruin everything just as success came within reach.

The best opportunity to bury oneself on the Primordial Ancient Star and await the Immortal Road would probably not come until the end of the Mythological Era, when Emperor Venerable conquered Kunlun and the Kunlun Immortal Clan relocated to Flying Immortal.

In other words, Heaven Venerable Daode should have remained alive until the end of the Mythological Era. One could even venture the bold conjecture that he had been active during the Primordial Period as well.

As a Heavenly Venerable who had fought the Immortal Corpse in his former life and survived through long ages, he would surely have something to offer He Mu in conversation. Thus, seeking out Heaven Venerable Daode became He Mu's current goal.

Although he already had a few clues, He Mu would probably still have to expend considerable thought to find Daode's whereabouts. As another of the Nine Heavenly Venerables, He Mu understood that for someone so grievously wounded to have survived until now, he must either have encountered an opportunity on the Immortal Dao or be residing somewhere truly extraordinary.

Beyond the endless void, amid boundless chaos, the aura of the Great Dao permeated everything.

This was the edge of the universe, a place veiled in chaos. It was extraordinarily strange, but danger also lurked at every step.

Ordinary cultivators-even experts at the Saint level-would struggle to protect themselves here. Even Great Sages could scarcely move an inch. Probably only the mightiest experts at the Quasi-Venerable level could travel freely through it, which spoke volumes about its dangers.

Here, the Great Dao changed constantly, and the workings of heaven were all but thrown into complete disorder. Supreme divine laws surged and churned, capable of grinding all things into oblivion.

Yet today, a figure walked through the chaos with the ease of someone strolling through a quiet courtyard, as though nothing stood in his way.

It was He Mu!

He strode along a golden divine path, Dao resonance flowing around him. The aura of the ultimate Dao radiated naturally from his body, myriad Daos following in his wake as gods and ghosts fled before him. He possessed the unmistakable bearing of a Heavenly Emperor.

As He Mu ventured deeper, the chaotic energies before him were continually pushed aside, revealing an astonishing sight.

Ancient burial mounds stretched endlessly into the distance, as though True Immortals lay buried here. Towering stone steles seemed poised to pierce the nine heavens, light flowing across their inscriptions as though they recorded secrets from before recorded history.

Only a cemetery of True Immortals could possess such grandeur. This immortal land amid the chaos fully deserved the name "Immortal Mausoleum"!

With He Mu's arrival, a faint glow rose from the Immortal Mausoleum. Sounds of the Dao seemed to ring out amid the chaos, weaving together into immortal music. A refreshing fragrance drifted through heaven and earth, giving the sensation of shedding one's mortal form and ascending to immortality.

The next moment, a voice came from within the Immortal Mausoleum.

"Since you have come, fellow Daoist, please come inside for a chat."

Immortal mist hung thick, as though an entire universe lay half-hidden within it. Although this place rather resembled a tomb, melodious immortal music echoed everywhere and immortal radiance drifted through the air, giving it the grandeur of an immortal abode. Its vast scale surpassed even many blessed lands and grotto-heavens of the outside world.

At the center of the immortal land sat an old man in ancient Daoist robes, his hair and beard entirely white. His eyes were tightly closed, and natural Dao resonance flowed around him, simple and unadorned, with a profound Dao intent that was not the slightest bit weaker than He Mu's, a Current Heavenly Venerable.

The instant He Mu saw him, he knew that the man before him had to be Heaven Venerable Daode, whom he had sought for so long.

He Mu offered a Daoist salute and said,

"This humble Daoist is Wuliang. Greetings, fellow Daoist Daode."

Sensing his visitor, the old Daoist abruptly opened his eyes. For an instant, it was as though the myriad Daos were first separating and yin and yang were driven apart.

Looking at He Mu, the old Daoist likewise offered a Daoist salute and said with a smile,

"This humble Daoist is Daode. Greetings, fellow Daoist Wuliang. At last I have met you today. What a joy this is."

He Mu studied Heaven Venerable Daode and found his condition exceedingly strange. One moment, his body's blood and vital energy surged like a dragon, divine might spilling forth naturally; the next, it abruptly showed signs of decline, as though about to rot away. His Immortal Platform was nearly shattered, its spiritual light dim, yet at its center a flame of Primordial Spirit immortal fire blazed fiercely, harboring a trace of vitality.

Despite those lingering signs of life, Heaven Venerable Daode's condition remained abysmal. He was essentially hovering on the brink of dissolving into the Dao, a sight that startled He Mu.

Noticing the change in He Mu's expression, Heaven Venerable Daode spoke.

"Are you puzzled by my condition, fellow Daoist?"

When He Mu nodded in agreement, Heaven Venerable Daode continued with a smile.

"In my battle with that Evil Immortal all those years ago, I did indeed suffer grievous wounds and nearly lose my life. My present condition, however, is deliberate.

Back then, that Evil Immortal ravaged the world, and I fought him with every ounce of my strength. Seizing the moment when his origin was wounded, I sacrificed almost everything to suppress him. Alas, I nearly perished myself.

Later, I drew upon the power of the Immortal Mausoleum to preserve myself, finally securing a sliver of hope. Together with the insights I gained from suppressing that Evil Immortal, I am now seeking life within death, to live out a third life!"

Hearing Daode's words, He Mu could not help marveling inwardly. Heaven Venerable Daode was truly no ordinary man. The sheer scope of his ambition left even He Mu at a loss for words.

However, He Mu was in no hurry to discuss the Dao with Heaven Venerable Daode. At this moment, he was more concerned about a particular name the latter had just mentioned.

"Fellow Daoist, may I ask what you mean by the Evil Immortal? Please explain."
