Background / History

Origin and Dao Attainment

He Mu remembered reading Shrouding the Heavens before transmigrating into its world. Born on Ziwei during the Mythological Era, he found that knowledge of the novel offered little practical help. His cultivation depended on opportunities and repeated narrow escapes from death rather than reliable foreknowledge 2.

After seven hundred years of cultivation, he faced the Path-Proving Tribulation at the Cosmic Frontier. He defeated lightning-formed sacred beasts and three supreme figures, endured attacks manifested through Immortal Medicines, and gathered the myriad Daos for his final strike. After surviving, he replenished himself with vital essence from neighboring star regions 1 2.

The Immortal Corpse and the Black Mist

Longevity Heavenly Venerable invited He Mu into the North Sea Eye to discuss an opportunity involving the immortal Dao. Their investigation led to Heavenly Venerable Lingbao’s sealed ruins, where a giant severed arm lay bound by sword qi 3 5.

He Mu shattered the unattended Lingbao Sword Formation, exposing sinister black vapor within the arm. His World-Cleansing Great Mill damaged it, but the ensuing clash nearly destroyed the Blood Sea World. He and Longevity attacked its escape routes; three streams nevertheless fled into chaos, while He Mu retained a fragment for investigation 5 6.

Daode Heavenly Venerable later identified the captured vapor as belonging to the Evil Immortal he had once fought. He Mu eventually concluded that the mist had possessed the Spiritually Awakened Immortal Corpse and survived the destruction of its vitality. Its possible connection to the Eerie Clan remained a grave concern rather than a confirmed fact 13 18 31.

Rule and Protection of the Universe

He Mu announced a Dao sanctuary on Ziwei and welcomed the universe’s races to pay their respects. His first nine-day discourse benefited cultivators and mortals alike and drew the faith that became a major subject of his research 6 8.

Over subsequent millennia, he restored earth veins, regulated vital energy, opened worlds within chaos, and encouraged the revival of the myriad Daos. He killed a rampaging Great Perfection Saint Spirit with one palm strike and returned its body to the world as nourishment. Wuliang Dao spread the scriptures and cultivation arts he created 11.

He later discovered Undying Mountain, claimed it as his personal cultivation sanctuary, and enclosed it within a Heavenly Venerable Grand Array. He left the Saint Spirit gestating in its immortal tear green gold mine undisturbed 14 15.

Battles Against Hidden Threats

When Demon Shadow emerged at the Cosmic Frontier and slaughtered living beings, He Mu confronted him immediately. He defeated the armored figure and erased its primordial spirit, but suffered wounds himself. The victory did not eliminate the original black mist 17 18.

After his failed attempt to transcend the Heavenly Heart, rumors spread that he was dying. He deliberately reinforced that impression to draw out enemies. Demon Sound Supreme, Divine Flame Supreme, and Chaos Supreme emerged, intending to harvest living beings; He Mu revealed his deception and fought them at the Cosmic Frontier 22 25 26.

He subsequently demanded compensation from the Flying Immortal Forbidden Zone. After demonstrating his strength against a resisting Supreme’s cavern, he obtained the White Tiger Immortal Medicine and a block of Feathered Green Gold. He then spent three hundred years reassuring the races and preaching before returning to prepare for rebirth 27 28.

Second Lifetime and Lingbao’s Recovery

Following his rebirth, He Mu resumed investigating Lingbao’s ruins. Longevity revealed that Lingbao had attempted to absorb an Immortal Corpse’s origin through corpse dissolution, failed, and survived. He Mu followed Lingbao’s golden origin light into the Chaos Dragon Nest and returned it to its owner 30 37 40.

Lingbao’s awakening initially exhausted his remaining strength. He Mu refined chaos qi into Great Dao origin power to replenish him, enabling his recovery. The two subsequently devised plans concerning the black mist 41 43.

Before proceeding, He Mu traced Longevity’s relocation to the Underworld and investigated his condition. Finding him deeply secluded in Changsheng Hall, He Mu left after exchanging historical knowledge with Lunzhuan Supreme 44 47.

His next preparations concerned Lingbao’s sealed disciples. At the Jade Roaming Palace, he met its sole surviving disciple, Wenxin, searched Heavenly Passage Ancient Star, and located the hidden small world containing Lingbao’s disciples. He brought Wenxin inside, intending to awaken the disciples and secretly prepare them for war against the Black Qi 49.

Appearance

  • Robes: Wore blue-green feathered robes during his Path-Proving Tribulation; appeared in bloodstained white robes after defeating Demon Shadow 1 17.
  • Hair and face: His formerly black hair turned gray during prolonged cultivation, while his face remained youthful and unmarked by age 19.
  • Eyes: After seclusion, his pupils displayed visions resembling an entire universe, including worlds being born and destroyed 19.
  • Manifestations: Often accompanied by immortal light, the Four Spirits and Four Symbols, and myriad Daos bowing around him 14 33.
  • Divine Self Body: Wears a purple-gold Heaven-Pacifying Crown with twelve strands of Chaos Jewels, a black Heavenly Emperor Robe bearing the Twelve Emblems, and an Azure-Gold Longsword 32.

Personality

He Mu combines confidence in battle with caution toward poorly understood powers. He dismissed the unattended Lingbao formation as a lifeless obstacle, yet treated the entity within the Immortal Corpse’s arm seriously. He likewise regarded faith as valuable to study but dangerous to depend upon because of its karmic ties to living beings 5 6 8.

His rule is strongly protective. He restores damaged environments, teaches widely, and reacts furiously to attacks on ordinary lives. Against the Forbidden Zone Supremes, he uses deception and intimidation rather than waiting passively for their attacks 11 17 22 25.

Although the possibility of Eerie Clan involvement deeply unsettled him, he redirected that fear into cultivation. He recognized that supremacy within his own universe did not make him qualified to participate in conflicts on a much greater scale 18.
