A charged kick blasted the snow apart, sending it surging over with the force of a roaring mountain and raging sea.

Dodo's hexagonal eyes sharpened. Dodo flew up with Magnet Rise and even pushed part of the wave of snow back.

Lopunny broke through the snowflakes with Quick Attack and lunged at Chansey.

Chansey muttered, then opened her mouth and spat out a ring-shaped move resembling sound waves, cutting Lopunny's momentum by thirty percent before repelling her with a weakened Brick Break.
Neither of them should have put much force into that exchange, but when Lopunny bounced back and landed, her foot slipped on the slick ice and snow. Her body twisted as she toppled backward.
Fortunately, Dodo reacted in time and caught the rabbit.
The sight reminded Shen Qi of a line from Master Luo in Ip Man: "This is ridiculous! The floor is so slippery!"
Still, Chansey's situation was a little unexpected.
In the past, she might have charged straight in with Double-Edge. Even if she held back, she certainly would not have chosen the special move Echoed Voice to open at medium to long range.
Compared with other Pokémon, Chansey's offensive stats were rather poor. Comparing her own two stats, though, an ordinary Chansey's Special Attack was much higher than her physical Attack. If she really had to contribute damage, disregarding fixed-damage moves, special moves were generally the choice.
Unexpectedly, Chansey had worked out how to use special moves. Her exchanges had become somewhat gentler, yet she was making fuller use of the martial arts she had learned.
