The Dynamax Band required for Dynamax was described in the game as follows: embedded with a Wishing Star, it glowed at Power Spots and allowed Pokémon to Dynamax.
The Wishing Stars here were meteorites that fell from the sky, as well as special materials formed in the ore around their impact sites after mixing with special energy.
Likewise, the Mega Stones used for Mega Evolution were special meteorites and ores affected by life energy.
Then there was Terastallization, which required a Tera Orb made from special ore in the Great Crater of Paldea.
In the normal world line, the Paldea region Shen Qi knew had a great crater, but no "Area Zero," the crater's core. Presumably, without the meteorite impact, there was no deeper core region.
Mega Evolution, Dynamax, and Terastallization could not be stacked, so Wude asked Shen Qi to choose and think carefully about whether Lopunny should train toward Mega Evolution or Dynamax.
Terastallization was not as demanding. For Mega Evolution and Dynamax, most Pokémon could only choose one to train in, or at least had to make one their main focus.
All Pokémon could Dynamax. The effect was increased HP-except for Shedinja, whose HP remained fixed at 1-and all moves became Max Moves, with no change to base stats.
Certain Pokémon could Gigantamax and gain G-Max Moves.
Lopunny was not among those capable of Gigantamaxing. Training her for ordinary Gigantamax would greatly increase her HP, which, coupled with her decent defenses and Speed, would give her an excellent stat distribution for support.
Normal-type moves all became "Max Guard," which could be understood as an enhanced version of Protect.
Choosing to train Lopunny toward Mega Evolution would make her a high-Attack, high-Speed physical attacker with explosive power, and both her defenses would improve too.
