- Tribulations: The Undying Kings confronting Yun Ying had previously survived both an immortal ascension tribulation and a great calamity of Dao attainment 184.
- Baptism requirement: King-level Primordial Spirit power alone does not establish true kingship. An Undying King recognizes Yun Ying’s strength but notes that she still lacks heaven and earth’s baptism 184.
- Further advancement: Nurturing and maturing a King’s Dao fruit is described as the necessary path toward the Emperor Realm 197.
Origins and Position
The Foreign Realm’s Origin Ancient Artifact created numerous super-evolved beings, all of whom subsequently became Undying Kings. Its connection to darkness means that the realm’s Undying Kings ultimately originate from darkness. The artifact also concerns the secret of surpassing kingship and becoming an emperor 194.
The World Tree distinguishes between the kings’ present role as defenders of their world and the danger they could eventually pose. It warns that, once their dark blood awakens, they may bring disaster rather than protection 199.
- Population: No fewer than twenty Undying Kings remain in the Foreign Realm when Yun Ying infiltrates it, excluding those who have entered the Boundary Sea to pursue higher realms 199.
- Territories: Individual kings occupy premier cultivation sanctuaries. Those who establish Imperial Clans also extend these benefits to their descendants; others, such as Yuan Ke and Yan Min, live independently 201.
- Authority: Their decrees can compel Imperial Clans to halt hostilities, as demonstrated when they stop the confrontation involving the Yu Tuo Clan, An Lan Clan, and Red King’s Lineage 209.
- Rarity: Producing even one Undying King within an entire epoch is not assured 215.
Abilities & Skills
Dharma Bodies and Remote Manifestations
Undying Kings can project their power without sending their true bodies into battle 184 185.
- An altar in the Foreign Realm’s Border Wasteland is prepared specifically to receive their dharma bodies 184.
- These dharma bodies can unleash most of an Undying King’s strength 185.
- Their manifested hands can attack across immense distances, traversing tens of millions of miles of starry space 205.
- Destroying a manifestation can affect the true body, particularly when Heavenly Dao Judgment is involved 192.
Physical and Primordial Spirit Resilience
Kings can survive injuries that would destroy lesser cultivators, but damage to the Primordial Spirit remains decisive 192 201.
- An Lan heals his wounds and reattaches a severed arm before renewing his battle with Yun Ying 192.
- Yan Min’s body begins recovering even after his head is destroyed 201.
- Yun Ying prevents counterattacks by piercing or suppressing her opponents’ Primordial Spirits and sealing their bodies separately 201 202.
- Their deaths can produce cosmic mourning phenomena, including crimson lightning and vast blood rain 196 209.
Individual Dao Specializations
| Bearer | Specialty | Applications / Limits |
|---|---|---|
| An Lan | Golden spear ancestral art | His descendant An Hong invokes its power through his bloodline, manifesting countless enormous golden spears 160. |
| Sea King | Water control | Commands waters beneath heaven; fighting in water raises his combat strength from near the bottom of the realm to the middle ranks 202. |
| Red King | Power of time | His Divine Embryo and weapons contain time-related power, later inherited by Yun Ying’s Indestructible Dao Body 203 204. |
| Wu Shang | Immunity to magical power | Identified as a distinctive divine ability possessed by an expert approaching titan strength 204. |
Formation Breaking and Movement
- Most Immortal Dao formations offer little protection against King-level experts, who can break them through brute force. Formations capable of threatening such beings are exceptionally rare 201.
- An Undying King can cross approximately five hundred thousand li in an instant 201.
Known Bearers

| Kundi | Veteran giant associated with the Immortal Refining Pot 206 207 | Supports ending the battle after judging that the two intruders cannot be contained 206 207. |
Weapons and Resources
Undying King Weapons directly increase their owners’ combat strength. Possessing only one generally reflects limited reserves rather than a restriction on the number a king can forge 201.
| Weapon | Associated Bearer | Notable Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Golden spear and golden shield | An Lan | Both are destroyed by Yun Ying’s Sword God Art 192. |
| Purple-gold bar mace | Yuan Ke | Taken and refined by Yun Ying after his capture 201. |
| Crescent-bladed saber | Yan Min | Seized with his other treasures 201. |
| Trident | Sea King | Collected after his suppression 202. |
| Red King Furnace | Red King | Famously used to refine an Immortal King; later claimed by the Indestructible Dao Body 203 204. |
| Small gray bell | Red King | His true bonded King Weapon, stronger than the furnace; his weakened Divine Embryo cannot activate it during his capture 203. |
| Black battle halberd | Wu Shang | Used against the Indestructible Dao Body and later against the Heavenly Abyss 205 215. |
| Purple Gold Gourd | Zhai Chong | A titan’s weapon whose aura rivals the Red King Furnace 205. |
| Immortal Refining Pot | Kundi | Contains its reclusive owner and intervenes during the battle with Yun Ying’s Dao Body 206. |
- Long-lived kings can accumulate extensive treasure collections. An Lan’s holdings include World Stone, Radiant Immortal Gold, and numerous stored materials 193.
- The Origin Ancient Artifact exceeds the King Realm. Foreign Realm experts have developed secret methods to summon its power, which even giants cannot withstand 207.
History
The Heavenly Abyss Standoff
The Heavenly Abyss prevents the Foreign Realm’s Undying and Undying Kings from freely crossing into the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths. Its power is controlled through the Primordial Imperial City, where the last surviving king has fused his life with the city 150 197.
An Lan and Yu Tuo repeatedly pressure the border while seeking an object in the Nine Heavens. Their interest eventually centers on the wooden chest obtained by Shi Hao and the possibility of a secret connected to a realm above kingship 165 168 176 178. Their golden decrees are destroyed by the Heavenly Abyss, but the kings later renew their assault collectively 169 180.
Yun Ying’s Ascension and An Lan’s Death
The kings send dharma bodies to the border, where Yun Ying confronts them and announces her intention to undergo both immortal ascension and Dao attainment in Foreign Realm territory. Because their true bodies are absent, she abandons her original plan to engulf them directly in the combined tribulations 184 185.
Several kings attack during her baptism, only for the Purple Cloud Sword and Heavenly Dao Judgment to destroy their manifestations. The resulting aftereffects make them unwilling to support An Lan when he fights her in person 189 192. Yun Ying kills An Lan and displays his head beneath the Heavenly Abyss—the first Undying King death of the current era 194 195.
Assassinations in the Foreign Realm
With the World Tree helping conceal the workings of fate, Yun Ying infiltrates secluded cultivation grounds and captures nine Undying Kings over one month: seven designated targets and two additional victims 202. She then takes advantage of the Red King’s vulnerable transformation, allowing her Indestructible Dao Body to inherit his Divine Embryo and Dao fruit 203 204.
The pair capture Yu Tuo and confront the kings who respond. Although Zhai Chong exposes the impersonation, neither he nor Kundi can contain two time-wielding giants. Wu Shang is forced to his knees and blasted apart, while the other kings suffer injuries and damaged weapons 205 206 207.
The captives are later executed, their heads displayed beneath the Heavenly Abyss. The surviving kings investigate the disappearances and suppress news of the assassinations 208 209.
Collapse of the Heavenly Abyss
Wu Shang eventually returns in his true body, accompanied by ten kings’ dharma bodies. His attack is followed by the destruction of the Primordial Imperial City and the collapse of the Heavenly Abyss into a blood-colored sea of Heavenly Dao laws 214 215.
Yun Ying’s Indestructible Dao Body shatters his reaching skeletal hand and attacks the ten kings’ true bodies through the River of Time. During the confrontation, she detects an emperor-level presence acting through Wu Shang; Zhai Chong subsequently withdraws with him 215 216.
