Background / History
Heavenly God Mountain
Yun Xi and Yun Ying are identical twins of the Celestial Clan, with Yun Xi born first. Their grandfather, Yun Canghai, is the master of Heavenly God Mountain. Yun Xi regularly visits her secluded sister and supplies her with news from the outside world 1 2.
When Yun Ying attempts to open her tenth heavenly grotto, Yun Xi is terrified by the Heavenly Dao’s lightning punishment and begs their grandfather to intervene. After Yun Ying succeeds, she rushes to embrace her, happier than she would have been over achieving the breakthrough herself 1 2.
Hundred Broken Mountains
Yun Xi persuades Yun Ying to accompany her into the Hundred Broken Mountains, initially citing its treasures before admitting that she possesses a map marking something inside. The sisters travel through Broken Void City and separate after entering the region 3 4.
At the Hundred Herb Garden, Yun Xi clashes with the human youth later identified as Shi Hao. His threats to capture pure-blooded creatures as village guards infuriate her, and an encounter with his golden stone leaves her forehead aching. She asks Yun Ying to seize the spring water he obtained, but her sister declines and instead shares a divine bell, the Star Art, and a bloodline-refining secret technique 7 8.
The sisters later cooperate to seize quasi-sacred medicine from the Spirit Lake. Yun Ying clears the defending monkeys while Yun Xi dismantles restrictions with a golden horn. Yun Xi takes one stalk, and Yun Ying shields her from the Divine Monkey King before sending her away inside a sword blossom 11 12.
Back at Heavenly God Mountain, Yun Xi presents the medicine and inheritance scroll to Yun Canghai. He orders the inheritance kept secret, permits only the sisters to cultivate it, and urges Yun Xi to strengthen herself before the approaching calamity 14 15.
Kunpeng Nest Expedition
Yun Xi accompanies the sacred mountains’ forces to the North Sea. During the expedition, Yun Ying gives her a Kun Wood leaf and recommends cultivating in the Yang Extreme Cave and Mystic Ice Abyss. Yun Xi accepts the advice, taking Divine Servants with her and planning to advance cautiously rather than enter the deepest areas 18 20 24.
Over two years, this training brings her to the third stage of Spirit Transformation. She also begins sensing changes from the bloodline-refining art. During the same period, she encounters Shi Hao several times in the underwater training grounds, fights him, and loses each time—something she conceals even from Yun Ying out of embarrassment 26 29.
After the Kunpeng Nest opens, Yun Xi enters with the Primordial Sacred Mountain forces. She eventually leaves the restricted zone alongside Yun Ying and reunites with Yun Canghai while Venerables battle over fragments of Kun Peng’s talisman bone 30 34.
Marriage Proposals and the Stone Kingdom
After the sisters come of age, several families approach Heavenly God Mountain with marriage proposals. Yun Xi complains that suitors bother her but avoid troubling Yun Ying. Yun Canghai neither accepts nor rejects the proposals, saying that the sisters’ own preferences matter 36.
Yun Xi persuades Yun Ying to attend the Stone Emperor’s birthday banquet as her companion. There, she scolds Shi Hao for his noisy eating and later witnesses his victory over two Venerables and appointment as Wild Heaven Heavenly Marquis 37 39 40 41.
Having entered the Inscription Realm, Yun Xi attends Shi Hao and Shi Yi’s duel. She worries about Shi Hao’s chances, feels relieved by his victory, and remains concerned when his injuries leave him exposed to those coveting his Bronze Book Fragments 44 45.
Approaching Calamity and the Fire Kingdom
As the Desolate Region’s calamity approaches, Yun Xi discusses the peacock connected to Heavenly God Mountain with Yun Ying. She initially trusts her relatives’ account, but her sister urges her to seek the truth from Yun Canghai rather than accept one side of the story 47.
A year later, news of Shi Hao’s appearance prompts the sisters to travel to the Fire Kingdom to seek the peacock’s return and repayment of his favor to Yun Ying. At the royal gathering, Yun Xi trades medicines for artifact-forging materials and searches for him. When they find a disguised young man confronting Array Formation Realm experts, she suspects his identity from the situation; Yun Ying confirms it through his origin aura 47 48 49.
When Yun Ying declines to intervene against the kings threatening Shi Hao, Yun Xi anxiously reminds her that they still need his help. Yun Ying reassures her that he will be fine 50.
Appearance
- Identical twin: Shares Yun Ying’s face, allowing Shi Hao to mistake one sister for the other 1 7.
- Clothing: First appears dressed in purple 1.
- Beauty: Counted with Yun Ying among the finest women of their Celestial Clan generation; both attract numerous marriage proposals 36 48.
- Distinct bearing: Despite their identical looks, Yun Xi does not share Yun Ying’s detached, otherworldly temperament 19.
- Earrings: Wears Heart-Link Pendants, though one is missing when the sisters reunite in the Hundred Broken Mountains 10.
Personality
Yun Xi is affectionate and openly protective of her sister. She worries intensely when Yun Ying risks herself, enjoys her music, and can act spoiled without restraint in her company. Her warmer manner also contrasts with Yun Ying’s coldness toward their clansmen 1 13 15 16 36.
Shi Hao repeatedly disrupts her composure. His teasing provokes anger, threats, and embarrassment, while her defeats against him are too humiliating for her to discuss. Nevertheless, she believes he has survived reports of his death and worries about his safety. Yun Ying repeatedly suggests that these reactions reveal romantic feelings, which Yun Xi denies 18 29 30 36 45 48.
Under Yun Ying’s influence, Yun Xi becomes more assertive and committed to cultivation. She rejects the suggestion that her sister owes Qing Ming attention merely because of his future status, insisting that no one should dictate Yun Ying’s will 29.
Abilities & Skills
Celestial Bloodline Refinement
Yun Xi cultivates the secret art Yun Ying obtained from a fallen God’s inheritance 8 15.
- Refines bloodlines and awakens latent potential; the technique is suitable for any race possessing a bloodline 8.
- Produces noticeable initial changes by the end of her North Sea training 26.
- Manifests one line of a mysterious Celestial Clan mark after her Inscription Realm breakthrough, improving her aptitude and affinity with the Great Dao 44.
- Her mark remains incomplete; the fully developed mark is a future possibility, not an attained transformation 44.
Star Art
- Receives the powerful Star Art directly from Yun Ying through a touch to her brow 8.
- Its specific combat applications in Yun Xi’s hands are not demonstrated in the provided chapters 8.
Restriction Breaking
- Disables the Spirit Lake’s ground restrictions with a golden horn 11 12.
- Breaks the Divine Monkey King’s runes with the same artifact, enabling her to seize a stalk of quasi-sacred medicine 12.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Divine Artifact bell — One of a pair forged from heavenly star stone. Palm-sized, crystalline blue, and covered in flowing runes and starlight. Yun Xi successfully refines it, but its potentially overwhelming divine-power consumption makes it a trump card rather than a routine weapon 6 8.
- Golden horn — Used to erase restrictions and disrupt the Divine Monkey King’s runes 12.
- Heart-Link Pendants — Powerful treasure-artifact earrings. One is missing after a battle; Yun Xi avoids explaining the loss, privately blaming the “little thief” 10.
- Azure water divine gold — Receives half of the material Yun Ying found, suitable for forging a precious artifact 16.
- Kun Wood leaf — A translucent green leaf, roughly half a palm in size, that clears and calms her mind and assists cultivation and Dao comprehension 24.
- Treasure Map — Marks a treasure in the Hundred Broken Mountains and motivates her expedition there 3.
- Beast-hide inheritance scroll — Entrusted to her by Yun Ying; she later hands it to Yun Canghai, who restricts access to its secret art 8 15.
Relationships
- Yun Ying — Younger identical twin and closest confidante. Shares her treasures with Yun Xi, guides her cultivation, and repeatedly protects her; Yun Xi defends her independence and styles her hair into twin ponytails 1 12 16 24 26 29.
- Yun Canghai — Grandfather and master of Heavenly God Mountain. Oversees the sisters’ inheritance, warns them of the calamity, and respects their right to choose marriage partners 1 15 36.
- Shi Hao / Bear Child — Recurring rival and source of embarrassment. Their encounters include fights, teasing, and concealed defeats. Yun Xi also worries about him, though she denies Yun Ying’s suggestions of attraction; no romantic relationship is confirmed 7 18 29 36 44 48 50.
- Yin Xue — Close friend and expedition companion who jokes freely with the sisters and accompanies them in the Stone Kingdom 18 29 37 38.
- Lian’er — Close friend within the sacred mountains’ younger generation. Declines Yun Xi’s invitation to train in the dangerous underwater sites 18 24.
- Little Golden Beast — Mount and attendant who apologizes to Yun Xi after returning injured from a defeat by Bear Child 4 14.
