Background / History

Hong helped establish order on Earth after the Great Nirvana. His deterrent power restrained the monsters from launching a full-scale war against humanity's base cities, and he held the title of Earth's strongest fighter for years 32.

As the strongest human, he established the War God Palace's rules. These prohibited War God-level experts from killing one another and required even capital offenders to be handed over for judgment. Hong defended this system as a means of preserving humanity's limited number of powerful fighters against the stronger monster population 30 31.

His reputation also drew talented recruits to the Extreme Martial Hall: Ming Chengjun offered the possibility of receiving Hong's guidance when recruiting Li Xin. Before meeting Li Xin, Hong already possessed information from an alien civilization's legacy, although it was much less comprehensive than the Machine Race knowledge Li Xin later shared 4 33.

Personality

Hong refuses to seize opportunities belonging to younger cultivators. When Yao Rao suggested obtaining the treasure behind Li Xin's rapid growth, he firmly rejected the idea and instead arranged recognition, equipment, and an invitation for Li Xin. He hoped another powerful fighter would emerge because he understood Earth's weakness before the wider universe 21.

He is fiercely competitive without being a sore loser. Hong insisted on fighting Li Xin before Thunder God, refused to attack him together with Thunder God, and openly conceded when defeated. Rather than resenting the loss of his title, he celebrated having finally experienced another satisfying all-out battle 31 32.

Hong values independence and genuine danger as conditions for growth. He welcomed the chance to leave Li Xin's protection and later chose the Universe Mercenary Selection to overcome his cultivation bottleneck through life-and-death trials 37 40.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recognizing Li Xin

After Li Xin reached Planetary Level and destroyed a beast tide, Hong reviewed his background and sent Yao Rao to recruit him into the War God Palace. Li Xin accepted a councilor position and the Black God Set but declined both an Inspector post and a visit to headquarters. Hong anticipated the refusal and did not press him 21 24.

Mist Island and the Loss of His Title

Hong subdued the cloud-touching vine on Mist Island before sensing Atkin's death and confronting Li Xin. What began as a dispute over the War God Palace's rules became a contest of strength 30 31.

Li Xin kept Hong at range, learned from his Light Domain, and defeated him with Starlight Splendor. Hong acknowledged Li Xin as Earth's new number one; accepting the loss also triggered his own breakthrough 31 32.

Alliance and Earth's Unification

After the battle, Hong, Thunder God, and Li Xin exchanged martial knowledge and discussed protecting Earth from alien enslavement. Hong supported China's unification plan but initially doubted their ability to kill the two Beast Emperors in the ocean 33.

Six months later, Hong and Thunder God jointly killed the Thunder Dragon Emperor while Li Xin handled the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor. They then hunted King-level monsters in nations that surrendered, helping end the monster threat and unify Earth under China 35.

Entering the Universe

Hong left Earth with Li Xin and Thunder God aboard an upgraded Black Dragon Mountain spaceship. On Qiu Long Star, they agreed to register citizenship in separate empires to conceal their shared Earth origins 36.

After receiving equipment and travel resources, Hong began pursuing his own advancement. He planned to enter the Universe Mercenary Selection and accepted external membership in the Virtual Universe Company. To protect Earth, he and Thunder God fabricated a story that they had met Li Xin while traveling and paid to falsify the supporting records 37 38 40 42.

Discovering the Unknown World

While traveling to register their identities, Hong and Thunder God witnessed a world emerging from the space interlayer. Hong's scouts established that its holy-light barrier admitted only Star Level beings, while hostile creatures destroyed the puppets that entered 46.

Hong immediately contacted Li Xin with the discovery. Li Xin warned the pair to leave before other experts arrived and traveled there himself. The world ultimately led Li Xin to an Immortal-level inheritance trial 46 49.
