During the flight, Dongguan removed the forehead guard from his brow and put it into his Space Ring.
He opened his spirit eye, and faint lines appeared before him.
A blood-red line stretched into the distance.
Suddenly, another line appeared beside it.
His eye trembled, and Dongguan sensed a sixteen-meter-tall, pitch-black beast.
"The Golden-Horned Behemoth has hatched ahead of time."
He recalled his conversation with Qiong when he had broken through to Star Level.
He had only just made his breakthrough then.
"Young master, did your spirit eye awaken any special abilities when you reached Star Level?" Qiong asked, his face full of anticipation.
"Special abilities? Let me see." Dongguan opened his spirit eye and began testing it.
"The secret patterns are clearer, and they seem to go deeper."
Qiong looked a little disappointed. "An enhancement of your original ability? No new abilities, but that's still good."
"Also, I seem to see some lines connecting you and me," Dongguan told him.
In fact, he had seen these lines long ago, first while dealing with the rat tide, when he was still a ninth-order apprentice. Only now, however, could he freely control their appearance.
"Really? What exactly do they look like?" Qiong was delighted. "I knew it! Young master, you're the child of the greatest genius in the Qiong Luo race's history."
Dongguan described them.
"Yes, that's it." Qiong could barely contain his excitement.
Clearly, Qiong's emotions were growing increasingly complex, and he was progressing further and further toward becoming intelligent life.
"In the history of the Qiong Luo race, a few geniuses have awakened this ability, the Eye of Cause and Effect. Although it doesn't help much with cultivation, it's a very important survival talent."
"Foreseeing an enemy's arrival, judging hostility-this talent has so many uses."
"When traveling through the universe, being able to fight is important, but staying alive matters even more. As long as you're alive, there's hope," Qiong cautioned him.
Dongguan nodded in agreement.
"It's a shame your father never awakened this ability. Otherwise, if he'd sensed the enemy coming in advance, he would have survived somehow. Had he lived, he would have become a Marquis upon reaching immortality, then attained King Rank. He would no longer have needed to fear King Huozhen."
"Were there others in the race with this ability at the time?" Dongguan asked in puzzlement.
"Of course. Your thirty-seventh senior brother, your father's personal disciple, Jiu Wen. He made it into the top thousand of the Dry Witch Universe Country in the Genius Battle, but unfortunately, he couldn't advance any further."
"What happened to him afterward?"
"Later, he joined the Dry Witch Dojo and entered the Virtual Universe Company through another route, gaining admission to the Doomsday Secret Realm. At first, he improved a great deal, and everyone in the race was happy for him. One day, he excitedly said he'd encountered a tremendous opportunity. Then we never heard from him again. Later, the Virtual Universe Company announced his death."
"So he died."
"Yes. This talent is powerful. It can predict danger and find opportunities, but it isn't all-powerful. Its perception of powerful beings becomes indistinct, and if you deliberately try to sense them, they might notice you. Even if they don't have this innate ability, their own power may allow them to foresee your existence when you sense them. So never use this ability to observe King Huozhen."
In fact, Dongguan could now faintly sense a thick line, though it remained shapeless, and the other party had not discovered his existence.
The line was thick, faint, colorless, and dangerous, reflecting four characteristics of the other party: he was powerful, he was far away, he did not know about Dongguan, and they were enemies.
Dongguan had never dared touch it or try to sense it. If King Huozhen discovered him, he would be in serious trouble.
He could even vaguely sense more lines, but he dared not investigate them.
As a transmigrator, he knew many secrets and the titles of many powerful beings, unknowingly establishing karmic ties with them. But as long as he did not touch those ties, he would not be detected, since the law of cause and effect did not manifest in the Primal Universe. After all, countless beings knew their names and other information.
Of course, that same lack of manifestation meant he could not sense the law of cause and effect, so cultivating it was out of the question. This ability was like the Clone Secret Technique: he could use it, but further development seemed unlikely.
Aside from Jiu Wen, others in the race had awakened this ability in the past. Some had tried to sense the law, but none had succeeded.
In fact, through reading information about different races, Dongguan had learned that many races besides the Qiong Luo race possessed all sorts of strange abilities. Even abilities that manipulated cause and effect were not entirely unheard of.
But aside from survival talents such as clones, the best talents were actually those involving time and space, such as time stop and teleportation. They were not only useful but also aided cultivation.
Although Dongguan now possessed a karmic ability, he had no intention of researching it. After all, everyone cultivated the ten great laws, and following that path was enough. Even if he did study his karmic ability, he would at least wait until he became immortal and possessed an unlimited lifespan.
An untrodden path was not necessarily impassable, but on a path everyone followed, at least you would have company if it proved wrong.
Judging by Luo Feng's attainment of Hunyuan in the original story, the eight great laws and the Space-Time Law formed a road leading all the way to the summit.
At Dongguan's speed, he soon arrived near the Hawaiian Islands.
Following the karmic line, he sensed a figure resembling a dragon from Chinese mythology.
It stretched a thousand meters long, lightning coiling around its body, as majestic as a divine dragon.
The Thunder Dragon Emperor lurked on the seabed, his enormous eyes fixed on the person above the surface.
He was afraid, terrified by the overwhelmingly powerful aura of life emanating from that figure.
"Star Level? How is that possible?" The Thunder Dragon Emperor huddled on the seabed, hoping his home advantage would keep him alive.
Dongguan hovered above the sea, but rather than attacking immediately, he followed another karmic line and fired a beam of light from his hand into the depths.
"Found you."
At once, Flowing Light plunged into the water, tearing through it as it flew downward.
Water vapor rose, forming a rainbow above the sea.
"He's coming." Through the waters above, the Thunder Dragon Emperor sensed messages relayed by other monsters.
He already knew that humanity had launched a major operation against all monsters.
The flames of war raged across the globe.
Lightning gathered around the Thunder Dragon Emperor and pierced the surface. He prepared to fight to the death.
Bang!
The instant he touched the tip of the spear plunging into the water, an incomparably powerful force sent the Thunder Dragon Emperor tumbling. Even that glancing contact left him drenched in blood.
"I'm no match for him at all. He's even more terrifying than Hong."
Just as despair seized the Thunder Dragon Emperor, he realized the attack was not aimed at him. It continued downward toward some other target.
"Over there..." The Thunder Dragon Emperor remembered. "That's where the giant egg was."
Over a year ago, a twelve-meter-tall, pitch-black Giant Egg had suddenly appeared on the seabed. Other king-level monsters had reported it to him, and he had gone to look, but he had not recognized it.
"Does he know what that thing is?"
The Thunder Dragon Emperor was puzzled, but he quickly came to his senses. Whatever that thing was, he needed to run now, as far away as possible.
The long lightning dragon cut through the water, fleeing frantically along the seabed.
After a while, he was already far from that spot, and the Thunder Dragon Emperor relaxed a little.
Only then did he sense the mournful cries of monsters around the globe. Danger was everywhere.
On land and at sea, the fellow called Thunder God was slaughtering king-level monsters, while the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor was locked in battle with Hong.
Not only had all the Planetary Grade fighters mobilized, but the humans had also deployed numerous powerful Laser Cannons of various specifications. Even powerful Beast Kings that had made further breakthroughs were met with higher-grade Laser Cannons.
Suddenly, he sensed that elsewhere in the ocean, as the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor fled into the sea after losing to Hong, a fighter aircraft carrying a Laser Cannon fired a shot into the depths.
"No!" The Thunder Dragon Emperor sensed that his companion, the Eight-Clawed Beast Emperor, had died.
"I need to..." The Thunder Dragon Emperor was lost. "What can I even do now?"
Remembering that powerful figure from earlier, he had no idea where he could hide to escape a Star Level pursuer.
"I almost forgot about you. You're my mission, after all."
A hand gripped his body.
Compared to the Thunder Dragon Emperor's thousand-meter frame, that hand was tiny, but its force spread throughout his body, leaving him numb and powerless.
It seemed he no longer needed to think.
The Thunder Dragon Emperor died.
Carrying the Thunder Dragon Emperor's enormous corpse, Dongguan flew out of the sea and into the sky.
"Mission complete. I wonder how things are going elsewhere." Casually putting the Thunder Dragon Emperor's corpse into his Space Ring, Dongguan had Qiong connect him to the War God Palace.
Dongguan's original plan had been to wipe out the monsters worldwide, leaving the Golden-Horned Behemoth nowhere to hide. But while searching for the Thunder Dragon Emperor, he had discovered the Golden-Horned Behemoth cub directly, so he had naturally captured it and collected the uneaten eggshell as well.
As for the Thunder Dragon Emperor, he had been utterly incapable of fighting back against Dongguan, who was at Stellar Level One with a Domain First Layer.
Some people were exchanging information in the War God Palace.
Their combat strength was nothing remarkable, but at this moment, they were responsible for consolidating intelligence from around the globe and coordinating timely deployments to minimize losses.
"Speaker Dongguan, why are you here?" A staff member noticed Dongguan's arrival.
"I've completed my mission. I came to see where my help is needed."
"You've completed your mission?" The staff member and the others nearby froze.
If they remembered correctly, Speaker Dongguan's mission had been to kill the Thunder Dragon Emperor.
Hong's figure also appeared in the War God Palace.
At the sight of Dongguan, Hong paused.
"Killed him?"
"Killed him."
Soon afterward, news that both monster emperors were dead spread around the globe through the War God Palace.
Whether they were Councilors and Laser Cannon squads still hunting Beast Kings, or War Gods, war generals, warriors, and troops defending the base cities, everyone was greatly encouraged.
"Now, where do you need our help?" Dongguan looked at the staff member, and so did Hong.
"Well..." The staff member checked. "At present, Speaker Thunder God has killed numerous King Level monsters in the Indian Ocean, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and other regions. Councilor Luo Feng has pushed into the Pacific Ocean from Huaxia's coastal regions. Councilor Zhang Gui started in northwestern Huaxia and, after eliminating all the King Level monsters throughout Huaxia, headed to North Asia with other Councilors to assist. The three Bodyguards of the Limitless Martial Arts Hall have jointly hunted down the monsters in West Asia and Eastern Europe..."
"Just tell us where we should go."
"Asia, Africa, and North America are already largely under control. The regions currently needing support are Western Europe and South America. According to the plan, only after these regions have been cleared will we begin clearing the Arctic Ocean, the Antarctic coast, and Australia's Pacific coast."
"So Western Europe and South America, right?"
"Yes."
"Where are you?" Dongguan asked Hong.
"I'm in the waters east of Australia. That eight-clawed fellow fled here earlier," Hong said.
"As for me, I'm near Greenland now. The Thunder Dragon Emperor kept fleeing north earlier and crossed the Bering Strait," Dongguan said.
"Then we'll take whichever is closer. I'll go to South America, and you'll go to Western Europe."
"Let's finish this quickly."
"All right."
The two vanished from the War God Palace.
