"Not bad. That onion was actually bought for making curry, but you didn't force it into the dish. I'm very pleased." Dàkōng nodded in satisfaction. If Heath had forced the onion into the dish, Dàkōng would actually have thought less of him.

Dàkōng said nothing. Instead, he picked up his chopsticks and finished all the remaining food. Only then did he take the bowls and chopsticks to the sink. Rather than asking Heath to wash them, he patiently washed them himself. Once he finished, he dried his hands, then pulled Heath over to sit on the chairs in the kitchen.
"Do you know why the recipe for edible quartz was lost?" Dàkōng calmly took a drag on his cigarette and blew a smoke ring. However, he sat downwind as he smoked so Heath wouldn't breathe in the smoke.
"Because nobody made it?" Heath ventured. Dàkōng shook his head, then took a piece of quartz from his pocket. This was presumably edible quartz.
"Because making this stuff is a real hassle and takes an awful lot of effort, so over time, the recipe was lost." Chuckling, Dàkōng hefted the edible quartz in his hand. A second later, an Alakazam appeared beside him. It extended its hand, loosely cupping it around the crystal, and slowly twisted. The edible quartz instantly warped, and the toxins were expelled.
Heath listened quietly without speaking. He already knew that psychic powers were needed to remove the toxins from edible quartz before eating it, but what he didn't know was how to prepare the stuff. After all, he still hadn't figured that out.
