Background / History
Heath woke in the Pokémon world with the body of a thirteen-year-old orphan. His parents in that world had died in a car accident, leaving substantial debt. His previous experience as a chef gave him a means of survival, while Officer Jenny Feng took him in and helped him establish a Jianbing Guozi stall 1 3.
Over the next four years, Heath lived among Viridian City’s Officer Jennys, cooked their meals, and built a loyal breakfast clientele. Debt repayment prevented him from buying an expensive starter Pokémon. By the opening of the story, he had finally earned enough to clear the debt and purchase a basic Poké Ball with his remaining hundred League dollars 1 3 4.
First Partner and Cooking Rewards
Heath’s first partner was a wild Farfetch’d that regularly visited his stall for free food. Its willing capture awakened his reward system, and feeding it immediately unlocked an Ability modification. Officer Jenny Feng subsequently arranged its registration and monitoring because Farfetch’d was a protected species targeted by Pokémon Hunters 1 2 3.
Heath gradually established that his rewards were connected to serving food. Ordinary customers sometimes produced candies, while familiar figures such as Giovanni, Ash, and Brock yielded more unusual items. Farfetch’d’s interest in cooking also opened the long-term Pokémon Chef quest 4 5 7.
Becoming a Traveling Chef
After Giovanni asked about his future, Heath considered saving enough to open a restaurant. The Chef’s Path quest instead helped him commit to traveling between cities, collecting regional ingredients and discovering suitable ways to cook them 15 16 19.
His first obstacle was Viridian City’s supposed Evergreen Fruit, which he learned existed only in storybooks. A gift of an Oran Berry from a stray Meowth nevertheless encouraged him to investigate how Pokémon foods might be incorporated into cooking 17.
Viridian Forest and Zorua
A system clue led Heath to investigate a fast-moving white figure in Viridian Forest. He encountered a girl who vanished with the fog, then later recognized the human girl whose appearance had been copied. By deliberately naming the wrong starter Pokémon, he tricked the disguised creature into exposing the inconsistency and revealing herself as Zorua 8 11 14 17 23.
Heath used sweet-and-sour ribs to approach Zorua without forcing her trust. During a later confrontation with Asura, Officer Jenny Feng arrived on Arcanine to help. Heath brought the injured Zorua home, treated her foreleg with Potion, and accepted her as his second partner 21 23 24 28 29 30.
Food Truck and Chemical Plant Fire
The expandable food truck gave Heath a fully equipped mobile kitchen, but he had no driver’s license. Officer Jenny Feng arranged for Officer Jenny Aya to teach him 37.
When the Viridian Chemical Plant exploded, Heath decided against entering the dangerous rescue area. Instead, he used the truck’s self-driving function, obtained ingredients from Uncle Luo Shu, and prepared boxed meals outside the cordon. The firefighters praised his food, and Feng recognized his contribution 40 41.
By his latest documented appearance, Heath was considering Pallet Town or Pewter City as his next destination and had entered driving school for his first theory test 46 50.
Personality
Heath takes genuine pleasure in cooking, especially when diners visibly enjoy his food. He considers doing work he loves a form of happiness, regardless of whether others regard being a cook as impressive 2 44.
Years of debt made him intensely frugal. Even after repayment, he continued budgeting carefully and saving toward travel. His economy does not prevent generosity: he feeds stray Pokémon without expecting repayment and is deeply touched when they bring him an Oran Berry 6 15 17 19.
As a teacher, Heath values diligence more than natural talent. He patiently guides Farfetch’d through failed dishes, but insists on kitchen cleanliness and holds his Pokémon to human standards of washing and brushing their teeth 7 22 31 39.
Heath is also cautious about danger and reluctant to leave his adopted family. He refuses to risk Farfetch’d in the chemical plant fire despite Wonder Guard, and his experiences with Giovanni lead him to recognize that people can be more complicated than their apparent roles as heroes or villains 18 40 41 46.
Abilities & Skills
Cooking
Heath retains the professional cooking experience of his previous life and applies it to both human and Pokémon customers 1 8.
- Documented dishes: Jianbing Guozi, egg fried rice, Red-Braised Pork with Fried Tofu, Beijing Roast Duck, sweet-and-sour pork ribs, mushroom buns, soy milk, barbecue, and Chongqing Spicy Chicken over Rice 1 6 15 22 38 42 46.
- Large-scale catering: Prepares fifty prison lunches and serves more than one hundred guests at an Officer Jenny barbecue 20 39.
- Preference awareness: Uses five meal varieties for the prison assignment rather than assuming everyone shares the same tastes 20 21.
- Limit: He explicitly recognizes that he cannot make every human or Pokémon enjoy his food 8.
Cooking-Linked Reward System
Heath’s “cheat” or “golden finger” displays notifications and grants items, clues, quests, and achievements 2 7 39.
- Serving customers can grant rewards, but some customers yield nothing; Heath does not fully understand the selection rules 4 8.
- Famous customers tend to provide better rewards than ordinary diners 5.
- The system can modify a Pokémon’s Ability when an opportunity has been earned and teach compatible moves through rewarded TMs 2 9.
- Candy rewards increase Effort Values, but repeated improvements require progressively more candies 41.
- A special Lottery Ticket can draw items from other worlds 39.
| Quest | Objective | Documented Result |
|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Chef | Train Farfetch’d to prepare dishes successfully and independently. | Jianbing Guozi earns a GS Ball; perfect Red-Braised Pork with Fried Tofu earns Golden Perfume 5 9 20. |
| Chef’s Path | Collect each town or city’s specialty ingredients and develop suitable cooking methods. | Commits Heath to becoming a traveling chef; Viridian City’s ingredient remains unresolved 16 17 19. |
| Prison meal delivery | Satisfy fifty inmates with prepared meals. | Forty-three are satisfied; Heath receives a targeted clue and Ingredient Identifier 20 21. |
| Chef’s Eye | Have one hundred customers express satisfaction with his dishes. | Quest triggered, with Chef’s Eye (Beginner) offered as the reward; acquisition is not documented 48. |
Pokémon Training and Care
Heath combines Pokémon training with kitchen apprenticeship rather than focusing solely on battles.
- Teaches Farfetch’d cooking techniques, knife work, and ingredient preparation 22 38 42.
- Directs Farfetch’d to use Fire Punch against another Farfetch’d during a dispute over a leek 24.
- Treats Zorua’s injury with Potion and establishes daily hygiene routines for both partners 29 31.
- Uses Zorua as an interpreter when Farfetch’d’s meaning exceeds his own understanding 47.
- Introduces exercise equipment after Farfetch’d expresses a desire to become stronger, though he remains uncertain how much muscle-building benefits Pokémon 47.
Knowledge from Earth
- Recognizes major trainers, villainous organizations, Pokémon items, and moves from games and anime 4 14 25.
- Understands that Giovanni secretly leads Team Rocket despite his public position as Gym Leader 3 15.
- His recollections are imperfect: he forgets Farfetch’d’s original Ability and consults a notebook about Pokémon candies 2 4.
- Ash and Red existing as separate people alerts him that this world does not exactly match his expectations 4.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Food pushcart — His original business equipment, used throughout four years of debt repayment 1.
- Mobile Food Truck Experimental Type I — An RV-sized kitchen with cooking equipment, storage, and self-driving capability. Its system-granted origin is made publicly plausible through a Silph Co. prize 37 40 50.
- Ingredient Identifier — A magnifying-glass-like item usable once daily. Identifies general ingredient information and sees through Zorua’s illusions, but identifies species rather than individual identities 21 22 33 48.
- GS Ball — Reward for Farfetch’d’s successful Jianbing Guozi; Heath carries it while investigating the forest mystery 9 14.
- Golden Perfume — Reward for Farfetch’d’s perfect Red-Braised Pork with Fried Tofu. Heath considers it while planning another forest visit; its effects are not specified 20 21.
- Full Restore (game version) — Received after serving Brock 7.
- Fitness Equipment Module — A toolbox containing miniature exercise equipment that enlarges when removed. Heath gives Farfetch’d a five-kilogram dumbbell from it 33 47.

- Stone Milk — A small bottle given by Cord, who says he collected it over many years 45.

- Phone — Officer Jenny Feng’s old handset, used for calls and messages 37.
- Communication device — Given by Feng before an authorized forest visit so Heath can summon her team 22.
- Leek seeds — Collected near a forest lake so he can grow replacement leeks for Farfetch’d 24.
Relationships
- Officer Jenny Feng — Adoptive caregiver and older-sister figure. Heath regards her as closer than a biological sister; she supports him, protects him, and disciplines him when he disregards safety instructions 3 9 11 22.
- Farfetch’d — First Pokémon partner, cooking apprentice, and family member. Their bond began through repeated visits to Heath’s stall; Heath explicitly refuses to treat him as an ingredient 1 2 22.
- Zorua — Second partner and interpreter. Their pact follows Heath’s rescue of her, though her chatter, illusions, and refusal to enter a Poké Ball complicate his routines 30 31 47.
- Giovanni — Long-standing customer who enjoys Heath’s cooking and invites him to cook at his home. Heath knows his criminal identity but also witnesses his generosity and rescue work 3 15 25 41.
- Ash — Younger friend and regular customer, impressed by Heath’s Farfetch’d. Serving him earns Heath a Silver Bottle Cap 4 5.
- Brock — Customer who discusses financial and career concerns with Heath, including the difficulty of feeding Larvitar 6 44 45.
- Sabrina — Introduced through Giovanni. She later buys a meal and asks Heath to teach her how to make Giovanni happy 25 33.

- Uncle Luo Shu — Grocery-shop owner who supplies ingredients for Heath’s effort to feed the chemical plant rescue workers 40.
