Pork large intestine-that was three words, but Heath still preferred to call it chitterlings. It was a very distinctive ingredient that appealed to particular tastes, mainly because of its texture and the part of the animal it came from.
Chitterlings were, after all, a pig's large intestine, and as for what the large intestine held, those who knew, knew. That was why many people were extremely resistant to eating them. They always felt that eating chitterlings amounted to coming into intimate contact with something filthy and foul.
Some unscrupulous businesses could also be said to have made an outstanding contribution to this. Even someone who loved chitterlings would probably feel absolutely awful if they once ate some of that stuff that had not been cleaned out properly. If they had already said something like, "These chitterlings have such a strong flavor," they would probably feel even worse.
Anyone who did not throw up on the spot could be said to have considerable mental fortitude.
But people who loved chitterlings really loved them, in a way that was hard to describe. They loved their distinctive flavor and texture, especially that fatty layer inside, which left them unable to get enough. But the Pokémon world leaned more toward the West and Japan, so Heath really had not expected someone to come asking whether he knew how to cook chitterlings.
After all, they generally were not even available at the vegetable market. Heath had asked about them before, only to learn that after slaughter, the intestines were usually sent straight to factories to be processed into fish feed and the like.
Still, looking at the somewhat apprehensive Mr. Luodan before him, Heath smiled and nodded. It would not do to keep a customer waiting too long.
"You really can?!" Mr. Luodan looked thrilled.
