A Poké Ball?
Heath was a little bewildered. He looked at the thing in his hand. It was indeed a Poké Ball, and an extremely plain one at that. The white Poké Ball had no other colors or patterns on it. If he had to name something, Heath thought only the button in the middle could count as at all eye-catching.
If he had to describe it, Heath thought this Poké Ball probably looked like an ordinary Poké Ball stripped of all its colors, a little like a Commemorative Ball.
What Heath could not understand was why Professor Oak would give him a Poké Ball. Heath had thought Professor Oak would give him something like a Rotom Pokédex or a newly developed Pokédex, but a Poké Ball?
"This is a project Silph Co. and I have been developing recently. It's actually still in the experimental stage, but judging by our current results, this Poké Ball has a much higher catch rate for Pokémon, around fifty percent," Professor Oak said with a chuckle. Heath was a little surprised. If that rate rose to one hundred percent, wouldn't it be a Master Ball?
The Master Ball was an incredible ball in the games. In the earlier installments, players could normally obtain only one per playthrough. It had the miraculous ability to catch any Pokémon as long as they threw it, except Pokémon that already had Trainers or extremely special Pokémon, such as those the story did not allow them to catch with a Master Ball.
There was also a very interesting bit of lore here. According to the Pokémon games, the Master Ball was a miraculous Poké Ball developed by Silph Co., but developing it led to Team Rocket attacking the company. Afterward, Silph Co.'s president said they would never develop any
