No, he did not even need an opportunity. Ma Zhide walked over curiously to examine the Charmeleon before him, then squeezed his head and belly. He then looked at Heath's Charmeleon in surprise. None of the Charmeleon he had raised had ever shown anything like this. No, none of the Pokémon he had raised had ever shown anything like this.
The elderly Ma Zhide seemed utterly baffled, and his puzzled expression caught Heath's attention. Heath cared a great deal about his Pokémon.
"What's wrong, Grandpa Ma Zhide?" Heath looked at the elderly Ma Zhide in puzzlement. He had not actually fed Charmeleon any Fire Stones lately. After all, he had better things available. Rare Candies and those strange candies were what gave Heath the confidence to do this. Whether it was candy or anything else, nothing worked as well as the candies Heath had obtained. In his view, eating Fire Stones might simply be a way to raise Special Attack, but he had Special Attack candies and had no need for Fire Stones at all. Besides, Heath had also obtained some Charmeleon candies, so Charmeleon was now very strong indeed.
Heath even felt that Leon's Charmeleon might not necessarily be as strong as his own. However, that strength was only reflected in his stats. When it came to battling, Heath felt he was no match for Leon either. After all, he had never studied battling much. Since coming to this world, he had only taken a Gym Test once, to fulfill Charmeleon's request, and had earned his one and only badge. Unless Charmeleon really wanted to go again, Heath would not consider it.
