Goh was a very unusual protagonist. Ash, whom Heath had watched before, was a protagonist who shared bonds with Pokémon, young and strong, with a heart full of genuine love for them. People had grown used to a protagonist like Ash, but Goh, who appeared later, was thoroughly unlikable. He caught all sorts of Pokémon with a single ball, making Heath wonder for a while whether he was holding ordinary Poké Balls or Master Balls. Could every ball Goh had be a Master Ball? Was that why he could catch any Pokémon with one throw? After thinking it over, Heath figured the anime's producers had probably introduced this awful gimmick to push Pokémon GO.
There were other problems, too. For instance, the Pokémon were just like the female characters in those old novels he had read in his previous life: Goh would flex his muscles, and one Pokémon after another would throw themselves at him, desperate to become his devoted lackeys. It was deeply uncomfortable to watch. There was even that ridiculous stunt where Grookey knocked away the Poké Ball belonging to its original owners, Team Rocket, with a stick, then obediently climbed into Goh's Poké Ball. It truly left him at a loss for words.
That was why Heath rated the Pokémon Journeys anime so poorly. In his eyes, Pokémon Journeys did not even deserve to be called a Pokémon anime. If Pokémon Journeys had been released separately, without any connection to Ash's world, as a purely standalone spin-off, perhaps its reception would not have been so poor.
So seeing Goh like this left Heath with very mixed feelings. Still, he decided to attend to Professor Cerise properly first. After all, Professor Cerise had given him a very special fish this time, one that was even a special ingredient
