Giovanni seemed to have been leaving Viridian City quite often lately. Heath wondered whether Team Rocket had some big plan in the works. If they really did, that would actually be quite normal. When he first met Mr. Giovanni, Heath had known that his identity would be exposed sooner or later. Even though he was hiding it very well now, it would still come to light. That was only natural; Heath just did not know exactly when it would happen. But considering that Ash was about to set off on his journey, Heath thought the day of Giovanni's exposure was probably close. For all he knew, Giovanni's frequent trips lately might be what caused it.
"Haha, today is the League's Gym Leader Day. Elite Four member Lance sent me to Cerulean City to give its new Gym Leader some guidance." Mr. Giovanni smiled faintly. At that moment, Misty stood up nervously, too. Compared with her earlier complete lack of confidence, however, she looked a little more assured now. Heath did not notice this; only Granny Joelle did. She was rather surprised, wondering what had happened to this junior of hers to make her suddenly gain confidence. Still, confidence was a good thing. This was Giovanni, after all.
As the Leader of the Viridian City Gym, Giovanni was very capable, and he was a good person, too, which gave him a very good reputation among Kanto's Gym Leaders. As a Gym Leader of the older generation, Joelle knew something about this rising talent, Giovanni. He was extremely capable, but Joelle always felt that he was still hiding some of his strength. She had no evidence, though. It was merely her "woman's intuition."
