"Mr. Fujiyama, what made you come to Petalburg Woods? Weren't you always in Viridian City before?" Heath asked curiously, sitting on a rock with a campfire in front of him. Mr. Fujiyama and the Bewear sat opposite him. Now that he saw the Bewear here, Heath realized it was much bigger than he had imagined and had quite an imposing presence. Still, compared with the Garchomp beside Cynthia, who sat next to him, this Bewear fell rather short.
After all, Cynthia was a Champion, and the atmosphere was not all that harmonious at the moment. Bewear and Garchomp were staring at each other-or, more precisely, Bewear was staring at Garchomp, while Garchomp lay lazily on the ground basking in the sun, looking listless. But Bewear's stare was so intense that Garchomp finally gave Bewear an impatient glance.
"Don't be so impatient, Garchomp." Cynthia stroked Garchomp's head with a smile. Only then did Garchomp lie back down and continue enjoying the sun, while Cynthia watched Bewear curiously. Garchomp was now highly intimidating to most Pokémon, but Bewear really were a unique kind of Pokémon. They seemed to have a strange fondness for challenging the strong, and aside from that, they liked looking after their families.
There was even a story in the League about a human little girl who was adopted by a Bewear and grew up safely to become a bear woman. It had even been made into a movie.
Heath had noticed this issue too, but seeing how unconcerned Mr. Fujiyama was, he knew this Bewear probably would not actually attack, so he stopped worrying as well and chatted cheerfully with Mr. Fujiyama.
It was rare for Heath to run into an old acquaintance here, so he simply chose to stay and chat with his returning customer, Mr. Fujiyama.
