As Cheng Xinzhan's incantation ended, the spell character [Oak] on the cliff face in Anvil Gorge blazed with dazzling light. Plants surged out of every sword-cut stroke, and in the blink of an eye, a green carpet covered the entire cliff.
As the spell character shone with azure light, the manifestation of the Azure Lad Heavenly Lord and the divine form of Horn Wood of the East beneath his seat could faintly be seen. The Heavenly Lord's incantation echoed through the narrow gorge, accompanied by dragon cries.
The incantation and dragon cries continued, but the roaring wind swiftly dwindled. In fewer than three breaths, not a sound of wind could be heard throughout Wind-Eroded Ridge, nor could the slightest stirring of wind be seen.
Now Monk Weeping Wind truly was about to weep for the lack of wind. The mockery on his face swiftly turned to terror. He too chanted and formed seals, arranging the Wind-Horse Banners into a banner formation once again as he shouted,
"Wind, come! Wind, come!"
But the Wind-Horse Banners suspended in the air remained utterly motionless, like paper money offered at the wind's funeral-or at the funeral of Monk Weeping Wind, who was casting the spell.
Monk Weeping Wind's incantation was useless. Cheng Xinzhan chanted again.
He merely extended his left hand, pointing a single forefinger at the Demon Monks, and uttered,
"Burn!"
