"Clang!"

A clear sword cry rang out high in the starry night, resounding across Dragon Head Plateau.

The demonic disciples on Chessboard Mountain were not particularly surprised by the sound and reacted swiftly. Those firing sand at the foot of the mountain quickly put away their small furnaces, then gathered in groups of several dozen to guard the large furnaces. Those building the towers on the mountain stopped working and sat down wherever they were inside the tall structures, chanting incantations. Using the towers themselves as the foundations of their formations, they drew down the bright moonlight, activated the formation patterns engraved on the bricks and tiles, and formed arrays to protect the towers and themselves.

Above each of the two rooftops sat a man suspended in the air, both possessed of exceptionally rare beauty.

The man above Southern Moon Tower reclined on a floating jade couch, dozing. He was burly, with broad shoulders and a thick back that filled out his black brocade robe woven with silver. The robe hung loose and unfastened, exposing his chest and abdomen, revealing firm flesh with clearly defined muscles. Yet despite his towering, powerful build, his skin was unnaturally white, with the lustrous whiteness of mutton-fat jade.

The man had a full chin and softly contoured face, high brow bones, slightly upturned outer eye corners, a high, straight nose, and full, richly colored lips, giving him something of a bodhisattva's appearance. Thick, long black hair fell loosely around him, curling naturally in places and spilling over his smooth white face and chest, revealing an uncanny beauty.

His long fingers toyed with a translucent strand of Twelve-Seed Moon-White Beads as he hovered between sleep and wakefulness. Moonlight shone on him, making the skin of his entire body look all the more delicate and fair.
