The Western Regions, the eastern snowfields, Accumulating Moon Valley.
Accumulating Moon Valley was an enormous, shallow circular pit. Some said it was a crater left by a star falling from beyond the heavens in distant antiquity; others said it was a remnant of a battle between ancient gods, smashed into the ground with a divine hammer.
How this shallow pit had actually come to be was long beyond verification. But the fact remained that it lay over a spiritual eye of an earth vein in the snowfields of the Western Regions. A vein of snowflake silver happened to run through this spot, and after some immense force of unknown origin smashed it into a valley, a thick, dense silver shell formed across its floor. From afar, it looked rather like an enormous silver pot embedded in the snowfields.
Because heaven tilted toward the northwest and The Southeast Ground Collapse sank toward the southeast, the northwest lay closer to heaven. Coupled with the clarity of the snowfields and the silver vein's affinity for the moon, these favorable conditions of heaven and earth made this enormous pit especially attractive to moonlight. Whenever the moon shone brightly, its light poured down and gathered at the bottom of the pit, clear and luminous as pooled water. Hence the name Accumulating Moon Valley.
Moreover, its low-lying terrain allowed moisture to gather here, and over time a pool formed at the bottom. Under the influence of moonlight and the light reflected by the silver ore, the pool looked no different from the bright moon overhead. Hence the name Moon-Reflecting Lake.
Without question, this was an excellent place to cultivate the Dao of water and moon, so naturally people coveted it. It had originally belonged to a major sect called the Heart-Seeking Sect. A little over a
