The twentieth day of listening to the seal expound the teachings.
Cheng Xinzhan had more or less learned the Yuanshi Eight-Wealth Dragon Script. The script itself was not extensive. There were around a hundred thousand characters commonly used in the cultivation world, but the Yuanshi Eight-Wealth Dragon Script comprised only forty-eight hundred in total. Although the characters were extremely difficult, there were not many of them, after all. For Cheng Xinzhan, learning to recognize, read, write, and use them was no great difficulty.
Of course, that did not mean he had mastered the Divine Script completely. There was still plenty to study about the application and combination of each character, and how to form them into sentences, incantations, and scriptures. It was like the difference between recognizing characters and using them: recognizing them took a few years; using them was the work of a lifetime.
Even so, his learning to recognize every character of the Yuanshi Eight-Wealth Dragon Script in just twenty days had profoundly shocked the Treasure Seal's true spirit. Across the Numinous Treasure Sect's six thousand years of history, that speed would have ranked among the top five, even including its master.
Thus, after teaching him the Dragon Script, the true spirit did not proceed with detailed instruction on how to use it. It merely explained the meaning of the "General Outline of Crimson Brightness Opening the Chart" carefully, then described certain taboos concerning the script's use, and said no more. The true spirit believed that, for someone so gifted, the more it said, the more limitations it might impose. Better to let him create for himself; perhaps he might even open up new horizons in the application of the Eight Majestic Dragon Script.
