Before Lin Yi could react, the darkness was peeled open like a sunflower seed shell. Everything receded like reflections in a mirror or the moon on water, becoming the shattered bubble in his hand-
Lin Yi was still in that ocean-like void where hazy mist drifted. Everything he had just experienced had only been a fleeting fragment within that crystal-ball-like bubble.
A moment of splendor.
While the sensation was still strong, he reached for the other bubbles around him.
Pop!
Another bubble burst, enveloping him once again-
As the images within the bubble grew clearer, a nearly frozen scene appeared in his field of vision.
It was another scene from the great voyages of the Black Fog Era, but this time, it was nothing like the "mildness" of the last. The seemingly dead sea had become violently enraged. Waves as thick as black tar writhed beneath the ship like demonic claws, threatening to swallow the entire vessel like a man-eating flower.
Endless torrential rain blanketed the ship like densely packed rays, and every crew member's face brimmed with fighting spirit.
The scene soon broke free of its stillness. Howling winds swept along grit-like particles of black fog and piercing black rain, as though they would punch straight through Lin Yi's will body.
He saw "the Mourners" holding Old Kerosene Lamps high, standing on the deck and along the ship's sides, chanting elaborate hymns into the black fog and driving rain. These were ancient Admonitions, and also what would later become the "Night Watchman Iron Laws"-
