Mao Feiyang rounded the enormous oak and came to the wooden post. Taking a closer look, he saw signboards nailed all over it:
"Gallery ←"
"Art Classroom →"
"Sculpture Classroom →"
"Lookout ←"
There were several signs for the Art Classroom and the Lookout, but some had been marked with red-painted crosses. Other damaged signs bearing names such as "Altar" and "Stargazing Platform" had also been marked with crosses.
Mao Feiyang picked a Covered Corridor that could pass for "brightly lit" and plunged into it.
"Rustle, rustle..."
"Rustle, rustle..."
Mao Feiyang kept picking up those rustling sounds, but he did not dare look around. He could only keep following the signs forward, hoping to find the door to a classroom up ahead.
Lin Yi, however, was much bolder.
After a day of getting his feet wet by the river and forcing his way back ashore, followed by Tian Bufan's crash course and a full hour of memorizing and understanding the Art Department's rules, he had already accepted the Art Building's abnormalities on a cognitive level.
At the very least, things like these sculptures could no longer make him feel that soul-deep fear.
Of course, he could not avoid the inner aversion and discomfort, or that instinctive shudder, especially when something happened without warning. No amount of mental preparation could help with that.
It was like riding a drop tower or a pirate ship at an amusement park: the body instinctively resisted the sensation of weightlessness.
Since no Layer falls involving things like the ground stretching occurred in the Covered Corridor, Lin Yi silently kept track of the distance Mao Feiyang traveled. After advancing roughly a hundred and twenty or thirty meters along the corridor, Mao Feiyang finally found a door labeled "Art Classroom IV."
