Background / History

Origins and White Rogue Person

The shuttle was reportedly created by a master from beyond Xudu Heaven. After its maker underwent Liberation by Violence and reincarnated, it passed through numerous hands 151.

In Void Sovereign Heaven, the Great God King awarded it to White Rogue Person, a scholar whose strategy helped him slay the Six-Penetrations Void-Clear Demon God. The shuttle served the scholar for hundreds and thousands of years without learning his personal name. Only in White Rogue Person’s final message did it discover that he was named Li Feibai 211.

When White Rogue Person was cornered beyond the heavens, he asked Chen Jade Pivot to spare the shuttle and the other innocent lives accompanying him. Chen Jade Pivot preserved its true consciousness but later had its memories of Void Sovereign Heaven sealed, preventing it from revealing those events 211.

The Ape Tribe and Linjiao Island

Several hundred years before its encounter with Yue You, the shuttle reached the Southern Sea’s Ape Tribe. Its ruler, Yuan Fuzhen, obtained it and bestowed it on his son Yuan Ju. After Yuan Fuzhen was forced to take his own life, Yuan Ju disregarded the shuttle’s advice and launched a failed revolt. He was exiled to Linjiao Island but permitted to retain the treasure 151 214.

The spirit later explained that it had never acknowledged Yuan Ju as its master. Its assistance was repayment for Yuan Fuzhen having saved it 214.

Yue You’s Borrowing

Chen Jade Pivot instructed Yue You to borrow the shuttle to reach Floating Jade Lake quickly. Yuan Ju eventually handed it over after Yue You killed Lord Ji Qu and presented his severed head 81 114.

Although Yue You had not completely refined it, he used the shuttle to escape into the Earth Abyss during the confrontation involving Jun Yao and Chen Jade Pivot. Severely injured afterward, he lacked the magical power to activate it again. The spirit refused to spend its own reserves and openly celebrated its freedom from his commands 151.

Chen Jade Pivot then appeared and secured the spirit’s cooperation by privately promising to fulfill an undisclosed remaining attachment. The shuttle agreed to transport Yue You to Chen Heng, estimating the journey would take three breaths 152.

Becoming Chen Heng’s Artifact

Before entering seclusion, Qiao Yubi entrusted the shuttle to Cui Jingzhong for delivery to Chen Heng. Initially, its spirit refused to appear and answered questions evasively, partly because its sealed memories made certain disclosures fatal 169 170.

Its attitude softened after seeing Chen Heng’s concern for Tu Shan Ge. Eventually, it began urging Chen Heng to refine it completely—despite refinement granting its owner control over the spirit’s continued existence. Chen Heng’s Foundation Establishment cultivation made the process prohibitively slow 173 210.

After Jun Yao left the Perfected Truth Seal, the shuttle requested that Chen Heng use it for refinement. The process was confirmed complete by their stay in the Zhao Kingdom 218 227.

Appearance

  • Artifact body: A flying shuttle, pointed at the top and narrow at the bottom, accompanied by blue light 151.
  • Spirit manifestation: A short, stumpy old man with snow-white hair, white eyebrows, and a long beard 151 227 234.
  • Manifestation effect: Its spirit can emerge from blue radiance; its manifested body can ripple like water when separating a strand of divine intent 151 248.

Personality

The shuttle’s spirit is sarcastic, evasive, and fiercely protective of its independence. While Yue You was too weak to refine it, it ignored threats and pleas alike, taking obvious pleasure in no longer being compelled to obey. Its apparent indifference was reinforced by its age and belief that little remained worth pursuing 151 152.

Its cynicism conceals strong attachments. It remained devoted to White Rogue Person and reacted with furious grief when a human puppet introduced himself using his former master’s personal name. It also responded deeply to humane treatment of spirit pets, praising both Chen Heng and Tu Shan Ge’s former mistress for valuing their dependents’ lives 173 211.

With Chen Heng, its manner developed into affectionate meddling and practical concern. It enjoyed joking with neighbors, proposing matches, and organizing New Year celebrations. When Chen Heng explained why survival and cultivation outweighed romance, it sincerely apologized for overstepping 234 235 236.

Abilities & Skills

Void Traversal

The shuttle specializes in spatial transportation rather than direct combat 151 248.

  • Long-distance travel: Chen Jade Pivot estimated that it could carry Yue You from the vicinity of Linjiao Island to Floating Jade Lake in two or three days 81.
  • Cross-realm potential: With sufficient magical power, it can transport travelers between realms. The spirit stated that, in its prime, it could have taken Chen Heng out of Xudu Heaven into a nearby small Realm-Void 151 229.
  • Group transportation: It enveloped Chen Heng, Qiao Rui, and Xiao Dian in blue light to depart for Crane-Cry Mountain 237.
  • Independent movement: Its spirit can enter and emerge from the void while investigating disturbances 228 229.

Concealment and Reconnaissance

  • Aura restraint: Its understanding of concealment can supplement Chen Heng’s Scattering Radiance and Concealing Form Art 233.
  • Disturbance detection: It sensed changes in the surroundings and investigated them, discovering Qiao Rui’s pursuit by members of her own clan 228 229.
  • Protective divine intent: It can leave a separate thought with another person, allowing it to sense danger and transport that person away. Chen Heng used this method to protect Qiao Rui while he ventured outside 248.

Combat Support

Though relatively weak in slaughter, the shuttle can directly assist in battle 248.

  • Origin Spirit restraint: It held Wei Wanhua’s escaping Origin Spirit in place long enough for Chen Heng to destroy it with the Avici Sword 224.
  • Explosive attack assistance: Chen Heng used it to detonate ninety thunder marsh stones near Qiao Yan and his companions, killing them and damaging the Lunar Wheel Mirror 253.
  • Battlefield extraction: It transported Chen Heng and a wounded yellow-clad cultivator away from the fighting in the Underground Palace 261.

Knowledge and Counsel

Its long existence gives it extensive knowledge of cultivation, artifacts, sect politics, and older secrets 151 170.

  • Explained the Invocation of the Sovereign Lord of Destiny for Spirit Descent, including its use for surveillance and channeling power through human puppets 211.
  • Identified the opportunities offered by the Eastern Sea Dragon Lord’s son-in-law selection, including obtaining support without accepting a marriage 214.
  • Assessed Chen Heng’s likely opponents and warned him about political dangers following Jun Yao’s departure 191 217 218.
  • Explained the standing of Plum Blossom Numerology among the Jade Dawn School’s supreme methods 235.

Limitations

Power Supply and Lifespan

  • Activation cost: A wielder without sufficient magical power cannot reliably operate it unless the spirit supplies the power itself 151.
  • Finite personal reserves: Spending its own sustaining power shortens the spirit’s remaining life 171.
  • Alternative fuel: It can use spell coins instead of its original spiritual energy. Several displacement journeys consumed several tenths of Xie Huizhai’s supply 227.
  • Remaining lifespan: Despite its repeated claims of imminent death, Chen Heng determined that it could live peacefully for another few centuries if it avoided spending its own magical power 235.

Memory Seals

  • Memories concerning Void Sovereign Heaven are covered by layered seals arranged by Chen Jade Pivot. Probing those memories or attempting to disclose them can kill the spirit immediately 169.
  • The spirit warned that triggering the seals would also cause its artifact body to explode, potentially killing Chen Heng 170.

Spatial Suppression

Obstacle Effect
Wei Wanhua’s imitation Chongxiao Tower Forced Chen Heng and the shuttle out of the void and prevented a rapid escape. The tower shattered after Wei Wanhua died 222 223 225.
Shouyang Mountain’s ancient prohibitions Made the surrounding void too solid for the shuttle to shift through 269.
Six-Yin Turbidity-Stagnation Blurred-Light Great Formation Dispersed its transportation light and prevented it from moving even an inch 334.

Relationships

  • Chen Heng — Owner and increasingly trusted companion. The spirit eventually said it regarded him as its own grandson; Chen Heng reserved spell coins to avoid exhausting its personal power 227 235.
  • White Rogue Person / Li Feibai — Beloved former master. The shuttle stated that, without Yuan Fuzhen and Yuan Ju refining its consciousness, it would have wanted to follow him into death 152.
  • Chen Jade Pivot — Old acquaintance from Void Sovereign Heaven whom it openly disdains and distrusts. Their shared past includes Chen Jade Pivot’s childhood vows at Two Qi Cliff 151 152.
  • Mi Jingshi — Retrieved the shuttle and returned it to Chen Heng, then supplied magical power before Chen Heng’s departure for Xiyi Mountain 179 181.
  • Qiao Rui — Protected traveling companion. It helped celebrate New Year with her and provided a golden bell that Chen Heng passed on as a gift 235 248.
