At Lin Shi's words, the smile at the corner of Yue Wushuang's mouth finally faded for an instant.
Her gaze followed Lin Shisan's to the slightly raised stone slab beside her feet. "You do have a discerning eye. Unfortunately, even if you can see the array's core, you can't touch it. Without enough strength, everything else is merely drifting clouds."
She raised her right hand and crooked a finger lightly. The dark red threads of light abruptly tightened by a full circle, electric arcs dancing wildly along their edges, scorching the air until it carried a bitter, burnt smell.
Lin Shisan and Zi Yuner were forced back toward the closing stone wall.
The dark red threads tightened another circle. Dazzling sparks burst across Zi Yuner's Spiritual Power shield, and charred cracks spread rapidly outward from its center. It was on the verge of shattering completely. Her feet plowed two deep furrows through the ground, and the aftershocks of Spiritual Power sent rubble flying to either side, yet left her not even a moment to catch her breath.
Yue Wushuang stood behind the net of light, tiny golden specks churning in her pupils, as calm as though she were watching a play rehearsed long ago. She was not even in a hurry to tighten the final layer of the net, merely waiting for her prey to exhaust their last scrap of strength.
"Shisan, I can't hold on much longer."
Zi Yuner gritted her teeth. Spiritual Power poured wildly from her palms, forcibly adding another layer to the crumbling shield. Her voice had grown breathless. The dark purple dot on her forehead, the size of a grain of rice, pulsed faintly, and an extremely faint trace of blood seeped
