Wong Po was burly, but he was a little short.
After he was hung from the window railing, the soles of his feet could barely touch the floor.
On top of that, he was hung up with his hands cuffed behind his back, which made him feel utterly miserable.
If he were left hanging like this for a full forty-eight hours, that was before even considering how he would deal with eating, drinking, and relieving himself.
His body alone would not be left permanently disabled, but he would certainly be bedridden for ten days to half a month afterward.
Wong Po strained to stand on tiptoe, supporting his own weight to make himself feel a little better.
"Dirty cop, this is torture! It's illegal! I want to see my lawyer!"
At that moment, a look of panic finally appeared on his face.
"Fatso, and now you want to talk to me about the law?"
Zhou Quan looked Wong Po up and down with some curiosity. He gave a sneer and said, "Did I ask you for a statement? I don't even want your testimony. I'm just asking you to stay here for forty-eight hours."
If Zhou Quan had intended to interrogate Wong Po, then he would indeed have been entitled to have a lawyer present.
That was the only way Wong Po's statement could be used as admissible evidence in court.
But Zhou Quan had no intention of interrogating Wong Po. He was simply using a few methods to teach him a lesson.
Forcing Wong Po to drink Judicial Milk Tea and using other such methods was indeed excessive. It would directly threaten Wong Po's personal safety and violate the law.
But at the moment, Zhou Quan was only detaining Wong Po. At most, it could be considered a procedural irregularity.
If Wong Po wanted to go after Zhou Quan afterward, his only official recourse would be to file a complaint against him.
"If you have a problem with it, you can file a complaint against me after you get out."
A cold glint appeared deep in his eyes as Zhou Quan continued, "I'll be waiting, Gou Hok Jai!"
The same question remained: what could a petty Gou Hok Jai, an insignificant gangster, possibly do to Zhou Quan?
With Zhou Quan's position and connections, he could handle it with ease.
"19:35. I'll count from seven tonight, when you were taken into custody."
Zhou Quan glanced at the gold Rolex on his wrist, then reached up and patted Wong Po's face. With a cold laugh, he said, "No one will come to see you, Gou Hok Jai, before seven in the evening two days from now."
With that, Zhou Quan turned to look at the Anti-Triad Unit officers inside the detention room.
"Even if his lawyer asks to see him, keep them outside."
His tone brooked no argument. "Understand?"
"Yes, sir!"
All the officers saluted and answered in unison. Even the three trusted men under Chan Kwok-chung were no exception.
As for Chan Kwok-chung himself, seeing Wong Po suffer had already given him more satisfaction than he could express. Of course, he had no objections.
"All right, get back to work!"
Zhou Quan nodded slightly. He couldn't be bothered to look at Wong Po again and turned to walk out of the detention room.
"Dirty cop, I'll never let you get away with this!"
Seeing what was happening, Wong Po grew frantic and furious. He roared, trying to sound fierce.
But it was only a powerless fit of rage. No one paid him any attention.
Everyone followed Zhou Quan and hurried toward the Anti-Triad Unit's office area.
Zhou Quan went straight to the whiteboard propped up outside his glass office.
"Clap, clap, clap!"
He clapped his hands a few times, drawing the attention of all the Anti-Triad Unit officers.
"Sergeant Chan, I'm getting ready to formally launch an operation against Wong Po and the other triad criminals. Do you have any thoughts?"
Zhou Quan looked at Chan Kwok-chung and gave him a friendly smile.
Although he had said he would only detain Wong Po for forty-eight hours, now that the gangster was already inside the Police Station, how could he possibly be content to let him walk out unharmed?
However, Wong Po and the other criminal elements had always been handled by Chan Kwok-chung's B Group.
Zhou Quan held the same rank as Chan Kwok-chung, so he naturally had to give him a heads-up.
"My brothers in B Group and I will follow your orders, Sergeant Zhou!"
Faced with Zhou Quan's question, Chan Kwok-chung did not hesitate for a moment. He handed over control to Zhou Quan.
As an Anti-Triad Unit inspector, Chan Kwok-chung was also a middle-ranking manager at Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station.
He knew a fair bit about the connections behind Zhou Quan.
And after seeing Zhou Quan use those methods against Wong Po without the slightest restraint, he was even more certain that Zhou Quan had powerful backing.
He no longer knew how much longer he himself would live. Wong Po and the other criminal gangs were an obsession of his.
As long as Wong Po could be taken down, he was willing to pay any price.
So Chan Kwok-chung had not the slightest objection to handing the lead in the Wong Po case to Zhou Quan.
"Then I won't stand on ceremony!"
Zhou Quan nodded, shifted his gaze to He Wenzhan, and instructed him, "Ah Zhan, go get the first folder on my desk."
He Wenzhan said nothing and immediately ran into Zhou Quan's glass office. He retrieved the folder and handed it to Zhou Quan.
Inside the folder was information on Wong Po and the other criminals.
It included material collected by the Yau Tsim District Anti-Triad Unit as well as documents his uncle had given him.
Zhou Quan took three photographs out of the folder and pinned them to the whiteboard in a triangle.
The photograph at the top was naturally of Wong Po, the chief culprit.
The other two photographs were of young men.
The man on the left wore a red floral suit and a round bowler hat.
The man on the right wore a white leather jacket and had dyed his hair blond.
"Wong Po is suspected of manufacturing and selling drugs, murder, and other crimes, but he has always escaped justice because of insufficient evidence."
Zhou Quan pointed to the three photographs on the whiteboard and introduced them to everyone. "Ah Fei and Ah Ji are Wong Po's trusted men.
"One is his most trusted Right-Hand Man, and the other is an assassin he keeps."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone except He Wenzhan instinctively exchanged glances.
None of the Yau Tsim District Anti-Triad Unit officers were unfamiliar with Wong Po and Ah Fei.
But they had never even heard of Ah Ji.
If Zhou Quan hadn't had intelligence from O Division, he wouldn't have been able to find a photograph of Ah Ji either.
"Everyone can rest easy tonight. First thing tomorrow morning, bring these two men back to the Police Station."
Zhou Quan paid no attention to the officers' reactions and continued laying out the plan in an orderly manner. "A Group will handle Ah Ji, and B Group will handle Ah Fei."
When he pointed to Ah Ji's photograph, his expression grew more serious.
"One thing to note: this Ah Ji is highly skilled."
Then Zhou Quan said in a solemn voice, "He's good with a short blade. Almost everyone who's seen him has died.
"Everyone must carry a gun during the operation. You have my authorization to open fire if the situation calls for it.
"I'll write the report afterward.
"But remember one thing: I want both of them alive."
Zhou Quan's gaze swept over the officers around him, and a sharp air of authority radiated from him.
"The codename for this operation is Pig Slaughter!"
